2/08/25 Reese Kaplan -- Is the Starting Pitching Ready to Contend?. On the starting pitching front, there are most definitely some question marks mentioned over the past few months. Beginning with Kodai Senga, no one knows if he is the 2023 pitcher who absolutely dominated upon his introduction to baseball in America or if he is capable of moving past the injury plagued season of 2024. Sean Manaea's free agent contract last year was met with tepid satisfaction when he was brought on board for the 2024 campaign during David Stearns' rookie season as the head baseball honcho. Next comes the “where did HE come from” pitcher, David Peterson.

1/31/25 How the Mets' new-look rotation has been preparing for the marathon ahead. inside the mets How the Mets' new-look rotation has been preparing for the marathon ahead By Mike Puma Published Jan. 31, 2025, 8:40 a.m. ET Charles Wenzelberg/NY Post The Mets starting rotation that ended last season will look only vaguely familiar to the one that is ultimately assembled this spring. A key word heading to report day for pitchers and catchers on Feb. 10 in Port St. Lucie, Fla., will be “opportunity,” according to one club official — as in the chance for several newcomers and holdovers to fill roles, if not from the start of the season somewhere along the marathon route. Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea, Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes, David Peterson, Griffin Canning, Tylor Megill and Paul

1/20/25 Mets blockbuster trade idea would swap Paul Blackburn, more for 224-strikeout ace. The New York Mets could assuredly use one more ace-caliber starting pitcher. Entering the 2025 season, the projected ace of the Mets' staff is Kodai Senga, who only made one start in the 2024 regular season.

1/09/25 Mets listed as potential landing spot for Padres ex-Cy Young finalist. The New York Mets have been very busy this offseason. A top-level starter would certainly help them to go along with Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea. Mike Axisa of CBS Sports believes that New York could be a fit for Dylan Cease, who the San Diego Padres appear to be shopping. Cease is on an expiring contract, similar to Corbin Burnes last year before he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles.

1/01/25 Mets blockbuster trade idea brings $108 million three-time All-Star to Queens. Can the New York Mets challenge for a National League title with their current rotation? As it stands, the Mets look to be headed into the year with Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea, Clay Holmes, Frankie Montas, and David Peterson comprising the rotation in some order. It's not a "bad" group, but compared to their NL foes like the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies, it's not awe-inspiring.
