The biggest nugget from Kevin O'Connell on Monday afternoon at TCO Performance Center came roughly 20 minutes into his press conference. After answering multiple questions about J.J. McCarthy, the first-round draft pick who didn't play as a rookie because of a torn meniscus, O'Connell provided an important update about the future franchise quarterback as the Minnesota Vikings arrived back in the building for the start of their offseason program. “I'd consider him full,” O'Connell said.

Just about every national mock draft has the Buffalo Bills selecting a cornerback, defensive tackle or edge rusher in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Browns Swipe Intriguing DB From AFC Team to Bolster Defense. The Cleveland Browns have made an addition to their secondary, signing former Miami Dolphins cornerback Nik Needham. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com was the first to report the news. Needham spent the first six seasons of his career with the Dolphins and initially had a very significant role over his first three years in South Beach. Chargers' top pick called out before NFL Draft, could see his job stolen. The Los Angeles Chargers have some pretty vital decisions to make heading into the NFL Draft, and perhaps none is more important than providing Justin Herbert with more weapons. Outside of Ladd McConkey, Herbert doesn't really have a single dependable target in the aerial attack, and that's thanks much in part to the massive disappointment that has been Quentin Johnston. 2025 NFL Draft: Top defensive prospect may fall to Chicago Bears. Over the last few weeks, a general consensus has begun to form at the top of the upcoming 2025 NFL draft class. Check any mock draft and you're almost certainly going to find quarterback Cam Ward, defensive end Abdul Carter, and cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter in the top three. After that, it gets murky although there is still one more pick that seems set in stone: the Jacksonville Jaguars have been widely expected to select defensive tackle Mason Graham at fifth overall. The Jaguars have a huge need along their defensive line and Graham has the upside of a perennial Pro Bowler.

The position Chicago Bears can't and haven't ignored in this draft. While everyone talks about running back, offensive line, defensive line, tight end and possibly safety for the Bears with their four picks between 10-72, there is a position few discuss. It would make complete sense for them considering what Ben Johnson's history is with an offense, and that would be at wide receiver but slot receiver in particular. As anyone can see, they didn't sign slot receiver Keenan Allen back. Slot acquisition Olamide Zaccheaus has never had more than 45 catches -- former Bears slot receiver Anthony Miller did better than that with 52 and 49 catches his last two years before his career went down the drain with a playoff game ejection.

One Area Analyst Believes Chiefs Should Focus On in Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs should want to address the running back position in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Chiefs did not have a run game all of last season, and if they want to be serious contenders in 2025, they will need to have the run game be effective. Starting running back Isiah Pacheco may still be getting his footing down after coming back from injury last season, and Kareem Hunt cannot carry the whole workload. Patriots Predicted to Land Electrifying 22-TD Weapon. The New England Patriots need to add weapons all over the place, and while their hole at wide receiver remains prominent even after the acquisitions of Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins, they could use help in their backfield, as well. The running back duo of Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson was very disappointing in 2024, leading to new head coach Mike Vrabel stating that the Patriots will probably look to select a halfback at some point in the NFL Draft next week. Fortunately for New England, this draft class is absolutely loaded with talent at running back, so the Pats should be able to come away with a stud, even if they wait until Day 3.

Ryan Poles' big day approaches, and with the help of Ben Johnson and staff there must be hope the Chicago Bears can come out of it with four players in those first 72 overall picks who could eventually become starters. The mock draft season ends here for me here with this one last stab at picks using a simulator in a draft format, although later there will be a simple prediction of which players they'll take. After the top three picks in this draft, it would seem just about anything could happen this year so all of the casinos taking bets on who goes at what spot probably will rake in the money. With the Bears at No. 10, it could be a pick but it could also be a trade back or even a trade up.

The Las Vegas Raiders have rightly been pegged as one of the teams in the league that could opt to take a running back in the 2025 NFL draft, and many believe the team will spring for Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick. What Ramsey's Exit Would Mean for Defense. Three players started 17 games for the Miami Dolphins defense last season, but only one is expected to remain with the team entering next year. Jordyn Brooks is a projected starter at linebacker, Calais Campbell signed with the Arizona Cardinals, and Jalen Ramsey is now on the trade block. The Dolphins and Ramsey believe parting ways is the best path forward for both sides. Raiders trade idea adds do-it-all $40 million tight end to pair with Brock Bowers. Over the last two years, the Las Vegas Raiders have put significant resources into their tight end room with mixed results. In 2023, they took Notre Dame tight end and two-time All-American Michael Mayer in the second round (No. 35 overall). Part of the reason for his low output in 2024 (21 receptions for 156 yards) was Las Vegas' decision to take Georgia tight end and two-time John Mackey Award winner Brock Bowers in the first round (No. 13 overall).

Titans Could Trade Star DT for Right Price. The Tennessee Titans have what's expected to be an easy decision on their hands with the number one overall pick but what they choose to do after selecting Cam Ward is anyone's guess. With all of the roster changes the front office has made this offseason, the possibility of trading away defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons can't be ruled out but Titans insider Paul Kuharsky reports that it doesn't appear likely. "Two execs from other teams tell me they have no sense that Jeffery Simmons is on the market," Kuharsky wrote on X. "One of them said he thinks the DT would be worth a second or a third." This past season, Simmons played in 16 games while having a career-high 76 total tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and four pass breakups.

Patriots may cut ties with Rhamondre Stevenson in favor of $3.4 million RB. The New England Patriots continue to look for ways to improve their offense around second-year QB Drake Maye. One of the possible weaker links remaining for the Pats might be in the backfield, where Rhamondre Stevenson is coming off an underwhelming season. Patriots Linked to Intriguing RB Trade. The New England Patriots don't have much reason to be entirely confident in their backfield, as the running back tandem of Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson was not great in 2024. Stevenson fumbled seven times this past season, and Gibson was not the receiving threat that he had previously been during his time with the Washington Commanders. Of course, the Patriots' shoddy offensive line may have had a whole lot to do with their shaky rushing attack, but there is also very little doubt that New England can use a boost at the halfback position.

Andrew Berry has some thinking to do over who to pick at No. 2: Crowquill. The Cleveland Browns and General Manager, Andrew Berry, have a difficult decision to make picking No. 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft, that they'll try not to overthink. The Browns badly need a quarterback, but the best player most likely available at No.2 is the University of Colorado's Travis Hunter, a once-in-a-generation two-way performer at wide receiver and cornerback. If the Browns don't want to pass on Hunter, their next chance to get a quarterback is with the first pick in the second round.

During the 2019 NFL Combine, I spoke with an NFL general manager, and he told me the brutal truth – no one knows what prospects will be great. Every year we see it when an undrafted free agent turns out to be better than a first-round pick. Jakobi Meyers, and his slow 40-yard dash time, is a great example. When the undrafted free agent entered Patriots training camp in 2019, it was obvious he was better than the team's first-round pick, N'Keal Harry.
