Why Michael Hall Jr. will have a chance to become a key contributor in the Browns defense as a rookie: Ashley Bastock. Allow me a short victory lap. In the previous two years, without a first round pick, it's largely been difficult to predict what the Browns were going to do in the draft. No one had Martin Emerson Jr. on their radar for Cleveland in 2022, and really, no one was mocking Cedric Tillman to the Browns last year. Hall was one of the three names I proposed they go after, and one of the handful of interior guys I figured would be there for the Browns.

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are currently in the midst of what figures to be a highly important offseason as for the future direction of the franchise following their recent run to the Super Bowl, which culminated in a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime from Las Vegas, Nevada. Of course, it doesn't hurt Purdy's cause that he has some of the most talented skill positional players in the world at his disposal, including wide receiver/running back Swiss Army Knife Deebo Samuel, who strangely enough has found himself the subject of rampant trade rumors dating back the last couple of years despite his continued excellence on the field.

What the Browns should do in the NFL Draft: Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns head into Friday night's Day 2 of the NFL Draft with No. 54, in the second round, and No. 85, in the third round, and about 10-12 players they'd be happy with at either pick. There are still plenty of quality players left at all spots, and the Browns aren't locked into any particular position. The Browns should be able to trade back six or seven spots and pick up a fourth-round pick, replacing the one that went to Houston in the Deshaun Watson trade. The Browns have high grades on enough players to safely move back half a dozen spots and get into the fourth.

Ex-NFL QB doesn't think Kellen Moore will excel with Eagles. Former NFL quarterback David Carr doesn't think Kellen Moore is a good fit for the Philadelphia Eagles. During NFL Network's pre-draft coverage on Friday, Carr explained that he likes Moore's offensive approach, but he questions whether that system matches what quarterback Jalen Hurts and the rest of the offense does best. This is one of the reasons why Carr believes there's “no gap” between any of the teams in the NFC East.

Hamilton County and the Bengals have separately committed $39 million since 2022 to improvements at the stadium. Were Seattle Seahawks trolling with pictures in draft day videos?. The Seattle Seahawks seemed to lean into the “picture gate” controversy on the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Seahawks – if this was planned, and it had to be – showed a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing in a pair of videos they shared on social media. Last week, a minor firestorm appeared when media members showed up for some press conferences at Seahawks headquarters in Renton and passed along that a noticeable wall between the team's meeting room and indoor practice facility was bare. This was worth mentioning because it had previously been covered in pictures and slogans from the Pete Carroll era, which ended in January when the Seahawks moved on from the legendary head coach after 14 seasons.

Five Possible Targets for the Bucs' Second-Round Pick. The Bucs might have had a whole different focus in the first round of this year's draft if they hadn't been able to re-sign franchise icon Mike Evans in March. With Evans hopefully becoming a "Buc for Life" and Chris Godwin also under contract, the Buccaneers have one of the better starting wideout duos in the NFL. Bills GM: Teams Already Making Trade Calls to Acquire No. 33 Pick in 2024 NFL Draft. After the Buffalo Bills traded down twice and out of the first round of the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday night, general manager Brandon Beane revealed that there is already significant interest in the first of Buffalo's two second-round picks. According to WGR 550's Sal Capaccio, Beane said after the first round that he was receiving calls from teams interested in trading for the No. 33 overall selection, which is the top pick in the second round. Buffalo was originally slated to pick 28th on Thursday, but it traded down to No. 32 in a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs and then traded down one more spot from No. 32 to No. 33 with the Carolina Panthers.

The Indianapolis Colts got the weekend underway by taking UCLA edge rusher Laiatu Latu with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite some chatter about potentially trading up and back, the Colts stayed put and selected the prospect they believe is the best defensive player in the NFL draft. Latu will be joining a pass rush that set the franchise record in a single season with 51 sacks during the 2023 campaign. Now, the Colts will be looking to build off that selection in the first round.

Ari Meirov just shared the list, which shows Tyler Lockett will be announcing the Seahawks' third-round pick this year (No. 81 overall). Lockett was of course a third-round pick himself back in 2015 when Seattle sent four draft picks to Washington in order to move up to No. 69 overall, where they picked Lockett. Having taken a paycut this offseason, Lockett will return for his 10th season in Seattle.

Morgan went No. 25 overall, becoming the first Wildcats player taken in the opening round of the draft since defensive back Antoine Cason in 2008 went to the San Diego Chargers. Cason went 27th overall. Elliott's representatives formally met with the Cowboys at the team's headquarters on Wednesday — a little more than 24 hours from the start of this year's draft in Detroit. The decision comes after the Steelers signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal on the league's $1.21 million veteran's minimum salary, meaning both quarterbacks will be jostling for a contract extension by the end of the season. It isn't necessarily a bad thing Thursday night if the 49ers end up taking someone only serious draft geeks have heard of at No. 31 of the NFL Draft or trading out of the first round altogether and doing their serious work on Friday and Saturday. Taking the big swing hasn't been a strength since coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch arrived in 2017, with some of their biggest roster additions coming from selections that brought blank stares. The real drama will involve wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, a former first-round pick himself who may or may not have priced himself out of the 49ers' immediate future. The 49ers were faced with a similar dilemma once before in 2020, and they made the decision to trade defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to Indianapolis and then draft his replacement in Javon Kinlaw.

The Chicago Bears unveiled a nearly $5bn proposal Wednesday for an enclosed stadium next door to their current home at Soldier Field as part of a major project that would transform the city’s lakefront, and they are asking for public funding to help make it happen.
The plan calls for $3.2bn for the new stadium plus an additional $1.5bn in infrastructure. The team and the city said the project would add green and open space while improving access to the city’s Museum Campus and could also include a publicly owned hotel.
