2/07/25 | Blue Jays are 'one offer away' from stealing $119 million superstar from Astros. The Toronto Blue Jays have made some big acquisitions this winter. With Anthony Santander added to the middle of the order, Max Scherzer in the rotation, and Jeff Hoffman in the bullpen, the Blue Jays undoubtedly have a higher ceiling for the 2025 season. With superstar first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. heading to free agency after the season, the pressure couldn't be higher for the Blue Jays to prove they're a team worth playing for long-term, and the only way to do that is to compete for championships. In light of that lofty goal, the Blue Jays' need for one more star, especially one with as much big-game experience as anyone in the sport, seems paramount. 1/29/25 | Blue Jays floated as potential trade fit for Padres $71 million ace. The Toronto Blue Jays are a team that needs to add some pitching. They've made a few key moves this offseason to boost their roster, adding Anthony Santander, Jeff Hoffman and Andres Gimenez. However, they could use a little bit of help with their starting rotation, as Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt and Jose Berrios are aging. The San Diego Padres are actively shopping right-hander Michael King, who is in the final year of his contract. Mike Axisa of CBS Sports lists Toronto as a possible fit for King. "Now we're into the teams that not only have an opening for King in the rotation, but would also benefit greatly from adding him.
