The Milwaukee Brewers found themselves on the wrong end of a momentum-swinging decision by an umpiring crew for a second straight day. Milwaukee thought it had tied the game in the ninth inning of a 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday night when a third strike to Jake Bauers got past Rays catcher René Pinto, enabling Sal Frelick to score from third. Bauers was ruled out and Frelick was ordered to go back to third when plate umpire Ryan Additon ruled that the hitter's backswing hit Pinto's helmet.

Fireballer Jhoan Duran is ready to join the Twins' roster for the first time this season as Minnesota takes on the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Manager Rocco Baldelli said Duran likely was to be available for the surging Twins, who have won eight in a row with a makeshift bullpen compensating for not having the 100 mph heat from their planned closer yet in 2024. Duran went for testing on his aching side on March 16 and was shut down with an oblique strain. For Duran, the radar gun told him it was time to return.

The White Sox signed former All-Star Jared Walsh to a minor league contract Tuesday and sent the left-handed hitting first baseman to Arizona to prep for an assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. Walsh was designated for assignment by the Rangers on April 20, and after clearing waivers elected free agency. Walsh, 30, has batted .200/.263/.352 with 20 homers in 169 games since the start of the 2022 season. In August of that year, Walsh was shut down and underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.
