2/07/25 | 5 Rangers spring training storylines: Can Texas get its World Series groove back?. Re-made and rejuvenated, the Texas Rangers begin their annual desert migration next week when pitchers and catchers start workouts in Surprise, Ariz. A year after parading through Arlington, the Rangers had one of the most precipitous drops for a defending world champion, going from 90 to 78 wins. It left President of Baseball Operations Chris Young determined to prove that what his group had assembled had real staying power. Young re-signed Nathan Eovaldi, the team's top priority in free agency. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/02/... |
2/05/25 | Former Texas Rangers Top Prospect Gets Claimed off Waivers by new York Yankees. Right now, there is an interesting six-man group set to be factors for the Texas Rangers this year. The high-profile duo of Nathan Eovaldi and Jacob deGrom lead the way, followed by Jon Gray and Tyler Mahle and top prospects Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. Cory Bradford could be used as well, giving the Rangers seven guys they can turn to as needed. Ideally, that doesn't happen and Texas deploys their dream five-man rotation led by Eovaldi, deGrom, Gray, Mahle and one of the three in the mix listed above. 2/02/25 | Where Remaining Texas Rangers Free Agents Could Sign Before Spring Training. The Texas Rangers retained just one of their Major League free agents this offseason, signing pitcher Nathan Eovaldi to a three-year, $75 million deal. Texas was wise to lock him in, given his durability and track record. Other free agents have found deals elsewhere. But there are six Rangers players that were free agents or became free agents at some point during the offseason that are still out there. What are the chances of them returning to Texas? Or signing elsewhere? Here's a look at the Major League free agents that are left. Andrew Heaney, SP The “Hean Dog's” greatest contribution during his two seasons with Texas was reviving Creed's career. Who knew he had that kind of power? 1/29/25 | Texas Rangers Boast 'Serious Starting Pitching Depth' Entering Season. The Texas Rangers will be looking to bounce back this coming season after a disappointing campaign in 2024. After winning the World Series in 2023, it was a tough year for the Rangers in 2024. While the team dealt with injuries, the starting rotation was a bit of an issue throughout the year. Last season, it was Nathan Eovaldi who led the way for the rotation, totaling a 12-8 record, 3.80 ERA, and 16 quality starts. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
1/21/25 | Texas Rangers Success Will Be Determined by High-Risk, High-Reward Rotation. The Texas Rangers fell woefully short of expectations in 2024 following their surprising run to a World Series championship in 2023. In the opinion of ESPN's David Schoenfield, their three biggest needs and goals this offseason were starting pitching, a closer, and a designated hitter. Nathan Eovaldi was retained in free agency, agreeing to a three-year, $25 million deal while future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer remains a free agent. It can certainly be argued that not enough was done with the pitching staff given all of the question marks the team has with just a month until Spring Training gets underway.
