4/29/25 | Astros star Jose Altuve asks out of leadoff spot to have more time to get ready to hit. Jose Altuve asked manager Joe Espada to move him out of the leadoff spot and into the second hole for the Houston Astros. The reason? He wanted more time to get ready to hit in the bottom of the first inning after coming into the dugout from left field. Altuve is playing left for the first time in his career after spending his first 14 major league seasons at second base. Altuve says, "I just need like 10 more seconds.” The 34-year-old Altuve made the transition to the outfield this season after the trade of Kyle Tucker and the departure of Alex Bregman shook up Houston’s lineup. 4/21/25 | Houston Astros Skipper Thrilled With This One Aspect of Struggling Offense. Scoring runs has been a struggle for the Houston Astros in the early going of the 2025 MLB regular season. A team slash line of .222/.299/.331 has been recorded, which ranks 25th, 23rd and 27th in the league, respectively. Left fielder Jose Altuve, third baseman Isaac Paredes, center fielder Jake Meyers and right fielder Cam Smith are the only four positional players, out of 13 to make an appearance this season, who have OPS+ numbers in the triple digits. Manufacturing runs consistently has been a real issue for the team, scoring three or fewer in 15 out of 21 contests. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/astros/news/houston-astros-... |
