12/23/23 Melvin defends San Francisco's reputation amid negative noise. In recent weeks, the city of San Francisco has been -- fairly or unfairly -- under fire for potentially being responsible for the Giants' struggles to sign marquee free agents. Figures such as Warriors coach Steve Kerr and MLB agent Scott Boras lately have come to the city's defense, in addition to Giants fan favorites such as Buster Posey, Hunter Pence and Logan Webb, all emphasizing how San Francisco is desirable and its problems aren't unique to the city.

12/18/23 Kurtenbach Mailbag: Answering your questions on the SF Giants' free agency issues, Draymond Green's anger. What did you make of Buster Posey's comments on free agents being afraid of San Francisco? Posey was not the first to blame the city of San Francisco for the Giants' high-profile free agency failures when he made such comments to the Athletic. Hell, Farhan Zaidi preemptively blamed the city before free agency even started. Now, there is no doubt plenty of negativity towards San Francisco floating around these days.

8/30/23 Giants legend Buster Posey going back to school to earn degree from FSU – KION546. SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KION-TV) - Buster Posey is going back to school at age 36. No, the seven-time All-Star doesn't need to study again after a decorated baseball career spanning more than a decade. The retired San Francisco Giants catcher has a year's worth of online coursework remaining to complete his degree in social science at Florida State, yet he plans to spread the work over two years given his busy home life with four children. Posey had been a finance major before being drafted by San Francisco fifth overall in 2008, but since he can't finish that path remotely, he will study social science, with his current studies including a class focused on sports and society.

8/17/23 Could Buster Posey really be a future SF Giants manager? Here's why it's impossible now — and unlikely later. Buster Posey's plans to return to the Bay Area may have stirred up some speculation about managing the Giants down the line, but don't count on No. 28 returning to the dugout. Posey recently told The Athletic that his family is moving back to the Bay Area, having packed up his home in Georgia earlier this month after moving there in 2022. Posey, 36, said the Bay Area truly felt like home: Posey and his wife Kristen's two sets of twins were born during Posey's career in San Francisco, one set born in 2011 and another adopted in 2020.
