10/04/25 Scherzer, Bichette and Bassitt are left off Blue Jays' Division Series roster against Yankees. Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer has been left off the Toronto Blue Jays' roster for their AL Division Series against the New York Yankees. Scherzer struggled in his last six starts, going 1-3 with a 9.00 ERA. Shortstop Bo Bichette and right-hander Chris Bassitt are also out due to injuries. Toronto has included 13 pitchers, with a focus on left-handers to counter the Yankees' lineup. The Los Angeles Dodgers have added Clayton Kershaw for their NL Division Series against Philadelphia. Kershaw, who plans to retire after the postseason, is slated to pitch in relief.

9/20/25 Max Scherzer allows 7 runs while getting 2 outs, raising concerns for Blue Jays as playoffs near. Max Scherzer has struggled to escape the first inning unscathed. On Friday night, he didn’t get out of the first at all. The veteran Blue Jays right-hander was pulled after two-thirds of an inning, the shortest start without an injury of his 18-year career. Scherzer allowed seven runs on seven hits while getting two outs, and Toronto went on to lose 20-1 to the Kansas City Royals. Blue Jays manager John Schneider called it “a weird outing” from a player who’s likely bound for the Hall of Fame. Scherzer said he wasn't overly concerned. He has a career-worst 5.06 ERA this season.

9/08/25 Monday Bantering: Pitch Tipping. We made it to another Monday. The big story coming out of yesterday’s game is that Max Scherzer was tipping pitches. From the Athletic: The Yankees put their pitch-tipping expertise into motion after Cody Bellinger, who hit third in the lineup, reached first base on a single.
