1/22/25 SP Charlie Morton Speaks Out on Braves Exit. The Atlanta Braves entered this offseason with a hole in their starting rotation. After beginning his career with the Braves, Morton returned to Atlanta in 2021. The Athletic's David O'Brien reported the Braves didn't make Morton an offer for him to return this year.

1/22/25 Braves Bullpen Answer Could Be a Very Familiar Face. The Atlanta Braves allowed veteran pitcher Charlie Morton to leave in free agency. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser wrote on Jan. 20 that Jesse Chavez told her he intends to pitch during the 2025 season. Chavez has become a fan favorite in Atlanta over the past two and a half seasons, which incredibly, was his fourth stint with the team. Chavez also had three shorter stints in Atlanta from 2010-22.

1/07/25 Orioles could lose $100 million All-Star to Red Sox after breakout year. The Baltimore Orioles have been relatively quiet for most of the offseason, though they have brought in a few key pieces that should help them remain competitive in 2025. Last week, they signed right-hander Charlie Morton to a one-year, $15 million contract. Earlier in the winter, they inked outfielder Tyler O'Neill to a three-year, $49.5 million deal. Slugger Anthony Santander remains unsigned after a 44-home run season that saw him earn his first All-Star nod and Silver Slugger award.

1/06/25 Former Baltimore Orioles Started Predicted To Sign With Atlanta Braves. The Baltimore Orioles, even after signing Charlie Morton last week, need starting pitching. The Orioles' depth isn't the issue, and that's a good thing, but an ace-caliber arm is needed for this team to have a chance in the postseason. Baltimore doesn't have an opportunity to land a true ace on the current market. Unless the Orioles sign Roki Sasai, which won't happen, there aren't many avenues for them to pursue in free agency.
