1/20/25 Pirates Add Andrew McCutchen to 40-Man Roster. The Pittsburgh Pirates made sure that they'll have one of their greats ready for the upcoming season. Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reported that the Pirates officially added Andrew McCutchen to the 40-man roster. The Pirates putting McCutchen on the 40-man roster will allow them to place him on the 26-man MLB roster, which then permits McCutchen to play for the team.

1/18/25 Pirates Make Hilarious Mistake At Fan Fest. Pirates players at the team's event, PiratesFest, were signing autographs, and there was one clear mistake sitting right in front of franchise icon Andrew McCutchen. The photo has since been deleted by the Pirates account. McCutchen re-signed a one-year deal with the Pirates in late December. The Pirates outfielder turned designated hitter has been arguably the most important player for the franchise in the 21st century, as he has won an MVP, Gold Glove, the Roberto Clemente Award and he's a four-time Silver Slugger to go with five All-Star nods.

1/07/25 Pittsburgh Pirates Reportedly Interested in Free Agent OF Alex Verdugo. The Pittsburgh Pirates may have brought Andrew McCutchen back for another go in 2025, but that doesn't mean they're done looking for outfielders. FanSided's Robert Murray went on "The Baseball Insiders" last Friday and shared some insight into what is bubbling behind the scenes at this point in the MLB offseason. When asked about the state of the Pirates, Murray revealed that free agent Alex Verdugo is someone they are keeping an eye on. "They are all also looking for additional offensive reinforcements, and I do know that one name of interest for them is Alex Verdugo," Murray said.

1/06/25 Pirates Star Still Seeking Ultimate Goal. There are a few accomplishments Andrew McCutchen has yet to achieve with the Pittsburgh Pirates. With time winding down for McCutchen as he enters his 17th season in the big leagues, he's ready to give everything he has in hopes of winning a championship. "Heading into my 17th Major League season now, I'm going to give it everything I've got no matter what," McCutchen said in a Q&A with MLB.com's Jim Lachimia. Winning a championship is still my ultimate goal.
