4/25/24 Kurtenbach: 3 up, 3 down from SF Giants' first 25 (fine, 26) games. Despite it all, these Giants are doing just fine. The Giants won't be winning the division — that's the Dodgers' job — but they have not disqualified themselves from the National League Wild Card race after only a few weeks. Perhaps this is an unfair categorization, but it's impossible to avoid the fact that Giants relievers have a 5.92 ERA this season. The top four pitchers out of the pen — Ryan Walker, the Rogers twins, and Camilo Doval, all have solid ERAs and solid roles.

1/02/24 Player Review: Ryan Walker. It was a big year for Ryan Walker. Among my favorite notes about his season is that he opened enough games (13) to throw off FanGraphs' starter/reliever measure, a situation that befell John Brebbia in 2022 when we all agreed that he was the next-best reliever in the pen after Camilo Doval.

9/21/23 'Underdog' Walker traveled unique path to success as Giants rookie. Rookie reliever Ryan Walker worked as a locksmith for 10 hours a day when the pandemic shut down the baseball world in 2020, and he's considering returning to the role this offseason. For Walker, the math is simple. "One, what else am I going to do?" Walker said of his offseason plans on Thursday's Giants Talk. Walker has spent most of this season earning the big league minimum, a life-changing sum, but it's easy to see why he feels this is no time to coast through an offseason.

8/28/23 Will the Giants soon have an actual rotation?. Many fans have grown tired of the Giants patchwork starting rotation, which for the last few months has featured two true starting pitchers and a bunch of artistic reenactments of someone loving a Sudoku in real time but using pitchers instead of numbers. The Giants opened the year with six players who had been quality starters in the very recent future, plus numerous intriguing options in AAA ... no one anticipated that come late August, Ryan Walker (who didn't make his MLB debut until mid-May) would have as many starts as Alex Wood and Ross Stripling, or that John Brebbia (who has been injured for the last two-and-a-half months) and Scott Alexander would have more starts than Sean Manaea.

8/26/23 Giants vs. Braves Gamethread. All that I will say about Saturday's game between the San Francisco Giants and the Atlanta Braves is that I hope it goes better than Friday's game between the Giants and Braves did. That would be very nice. I'd like that a lot. The Giants are turning to an opener, using righty Ryan Walker to start things off. Walker has pitched 34 times in his debut season and is 4-2 with a 2.14 ERA, a 3.35 FIP, and 53 strikeouts to 13 walks in 46.1 innings. He's been used as an opener 10 times, and has a 2.25 ERA in the role. With Alex Wood being the only pitcher used out of the bullpen on Friday, and an off day on Thursday, the Giants have plenty of options after Walker, with Tristan Beck, Jakob Junis, and

8/16/23 Tampa Bay Rays vs. San Francisco Giants Betting Preview. In what could be a critical MLB series for both clubs, the Tampa Bay Rays are headed west to take on the San Francisco Giants. Ryan Walker is set to start for the Giants, while the Rays will put their trust in Aaron Civale. The Rays came into this game as the road favorite, but the odds now have the Giants favored. As is typical for San Francisco, the temperature will be around 68 degrees.

8/03/23 Walker carving out role as reliable option in Giants' bullpen. Ryan Walker wasn't on many people's radar before the 2023 season but has established himself as one of the more reliable and lethal weapons in the Giants' bullpen.

8/01/23 Giants rally to beat Diamondbacks 4-3, getting the final out on catcher Patrick Bailey's pickoff. Perdomo singled off Ryan Walker leading off the inning. Sean Manaea, signed in the offseason to be part of San Francisco's rotation, came on and got Ketel Marte to foul out and Corbin Carroll to fly out.

7/09/23 Pitchers Ryan Walker, Ian Hamilton headline Washington State's group of representatives in pro baseball. Jul. 9—PULLMAN — Two former Washington State baseball standouts are enjoying success in Major League Baseball. Several other Cougars are on the way, stationed at the higher levels of the minor leagues. And a few other WSU grads are in the early stages of their MiLB careers, toiling to climb the ladder. After this week's MLB draft, there might be a couple more Cougars in the pros. For now, ...

7/08/23 Giants vs. Rockies Gamethread. After a disappointing loss on Friday , the San Francisco Giants will have to string together a pair of wins on the weekend against the Colorado Rockies if they want to enter the All-Star break with a touch of momentum. The Giants are turning to an opener yet again, with Ryan Walker getting the nod to kick things off. A righty who made his MLB debut in May, Walker has appeared in 17 games this season. He's 2-0 on the year, with a 2.57 ERA, a 4.10 FIP, and 23 strikeouts to seven walks in 21 innings. Lefty Alex Wood is expected to pitch after Walker. 6/24/23 Giants vs. Diamondbacks Gamethread. After winning 8-5 on Friday , the San Francisco Giants have a chance to secure the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a win this afternoon ... and set themselves up for a huge sweep tomorrow. I think they should do that! The Giants are turning to an opener, and it's once again righty Ryan Walker, who has stepped into the role while John Brebbia is on the Injured List. Walker, who made his MLB debut in May, has pitched in 13 games and is 2-0 with a 1.56 ERA, a 3.22 FIP, and 16 strikeouts to five walks in 17.1 innings. He's allowed one run in 2.2 innings in his two times being used as an opener this year. For Arizona it's right-hander Merrill Kelly, who is having the best season of his

Padres News: Luis Garcia Falls Apart in Ninth, Skips Media Session Following Loss to Giants A very fatigued & shortened bullpen hurt the Friars. Author: Noel Sanchez Publish date: Jun 20, 2023 12:00 PM EDT The San Diego Padres suffered quite the heartbreaking loss at the hands of the San Fransisco Giants in their first matchup against one other since their home run showcase in Mexico City. SF came into the series riding a major hot streak that had seen them take down a division rival in the Dodgers and everybody was looking at the Friars to bring them back down to Earth. However, it was a scheduled bullpen day and Ryan Walker took the mound at the start of the game for the Giants with four more
