Despite starting the season without a guaranteed spot in the lineup, Cowser has seized the opportunity and become The former fifth-overall pick struggled in his debut last season but has become one of the American League’s best rookies. Cowser is hitting .276/.354/.575 with six home runs, 19 RBI, and a .929 OPS through 32 games. His impressive offensive stats and knack for making solid contact have quickly earned him an everyday role with the Orioles. RHP Mason Miller (Oakland Athletics) Athletics rookie closer is “scary to see, and fun to watch.” The 25-year-old flamethrower made his MLB debut with the Athletics last season, pitching in 10 games before injuring his UCL. He made six starts for Oakland before moving to the bullpen and becoming the Miller throws the hardest fastball in the majors at 100.7 mph and a slider ranking in the top 10 for movement. LHP Shota Imanaga (Chicago Cubs) No pitcher in the majors has had a more dominant start than Cubs rookie left-hander . After years of success in Japan, Imanaga signed a with Chicago in January. He is only the second pitcher in the last 70 years with a 0.80 ERA or lower in his first six career starts. Imanaga’s 0.78 ERA is the lowest through a minimum of 30 innings pitched in six starts since 1945. Jones holds multiple records in both and has become one of the league’s most electric starters. Through seven major league starts, he is 2-3 with a 2.63 ERA, 52 strikeouts, and only five walks. He ranks fourth among qualified pitchers in strikeouts per nine (11.41) and third in walks per nine (1.10). Merrill , but with their middle infield already set, San Diego moved him to center field. The rookie shortstop turned center fielder is slashing .283/.331/.383 with two homers and 16 RBI through 36 games. 5/05/24 Top 100 Hitters: Are These Hitters For Real?. Welcome back to the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.  As injuries ravage and our statistics stabilize, we are starting to see how the chips should fall.  The Top 100 are really broken down into the top tier of all-stars, a shrinking middle and guys at the back that are still trying to find their way.  For instance, Colton Cowser has been an early darling for fantasy owners, but his 35% strikeout rate is trying to call into question his long-term viability.  Those questions put an anchor on too much ascension in our rankings.  On the other end of some spectrum, we have a guy that was once a top prospect in Jurickson Profar trying to make a case for relevance in San Diego.  Making his best contact in years, Profar is sneaking into our rankings.  While we have seen this before, it feels a bit more real this time around.  The ebb and flow of our rankings continues this week as we dig through those feisty hitters.  Welcome back to the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2024 season.

Author: Tyler Maher Apr 30, 2024 In this story: Baltimore Orioles MLB Colton Cowser Rookie It's no secret that the Baltimore Orioles ' farm system has produced a lot of incredible players lately, many of whom have dominated straight from the jump. In 2022, Adley Rutschman immediately established himself as one of the best catchers in baseball. He finished runner-up to Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez in the AL Rookie of the Year vote that season, but only because Rodriguez had a historically good campaign. In almost any other year, Rutschman would have taken home the

4/15/24 As Austin Hays slumps, Orioles' brass remains confident in All-Star: 'He's still a huge part of this team'. Hays is 3-for-35 (.086 batting average) at the plate, including an 0-for-26 skid he broke with a bloop single Saturday. The 28-year-old has, at times, been a streaky hitter, but the slump is the worst he's experienced since becoming a staple in the Orioles' lineup in 2021. As he's struggled, he's temporarily lost his starting job to Colton Cowser, a top prospect who is enjoying an early-season breakout. “He's going to be fine,” executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias said Saturday.
