4/29/25 Red Sox' Alex Cora gives Masataka Yoshida update: 'It hasn't been great'. There's a chance Masataka Yoshida will fly back to Boston this week to be checked out there. “The throwing part of it didn't go too well this week,” manager Alex Cora said here at Rogers Centre before Boston's game against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. “So when we get back, he might be there (in Boston)." The Red Sox will return from their road trip to open a six-game homestand Friday.

4/28/25 Red Sox Key Addition 'Not Close' To Returning To Boston. There was a time when the Boston Red Sox's signing of outfielder Masataka Yoshida was a pretty big deal. Last season, things started to change with his role in the organization as he transitioned from full-time outfielder to designated hitter. Throughout Spring Training he was healthy enough to hit, but he still isn't at full-strength throwing-wise. Boston has question marks positionally for him at the big league level, but he's not at that level yet.

4/28/25 Red Sox Injury Update: Masataka Yoshida, Connor Wong, Kutter Crawford, Roman Anthony. The Boston Red Sox shared a series of injury updates over the weekend, and a few players on the shelf are expected to return to the roster soon. Masataka Yoshida is not among them. Yoshida has yet to appear for the Red Sox this year and the team has issued rare updates on his recovery. Most recently, on April 27, Alex Cora reiterated that Yoshida is still not close to a rehab assignment.

4/25/25 Red Sox Blockbuster Trade Idea Ships Forsaken $90 Million Slugger To Royals. There's no mystery about what the Kansas City Royals are seeking during the 2025 season: quality major league hitters. At some point, one figures the Royals will have to make a trade to attempt to inject life into this offense. Fortunately, the Boston Red Sox have provided a clue, because they've got one solid hitter on their roster who they can't seem to find any place for whatsoever. On Thursday, Athlon's Daniel Schmidt proposed that Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida, who is on an extended rehab stint trying to recover from labrum surgery in the offseason, could be a trade target for the Royals this season.

4/21/25 Red Sox Blockbuster Trade Idea Dumps $56 Million Slugger To Tigers, Clears Logjam. The Boston Red Sox have a crowded roster, and one player hardly ever comes up nowadays when discussing lineups of the future. Unfortunately, it's the same player the Red Sox gave $90 million barely two years ago. Outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida, who has been on the injured list for the entire season, lost his best shot at a lineup spot when Rafael Devers was moved to DH to begin the 2025 campaign. Yoshida is a productive major league hitter, but has so far not been an elite one.
