| 5/07/24 | Rays starter Pepiot (calf) likely heading to IL. Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot is expected to go on the injured list on Wednesday, three days after departing his start Sunday after getting hit on his left calf by a 107.5 mph line drive by the New York Mets' Starling Marte. "We'll have probably more of an announcement tomorrow, but [it's] likely," Rays manager Kevin Cash said after Tuesday night's 5-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Before the game, Cash said Pepiot was going to get an additional CT scan after arriving at the ballpark "a little sorer than we anticipated." Ryan Pepiot left Sunday afternoon's game after being hit in the leg by a comebacker during the third inning against the Mets at Tropicana Field. Replays showed he may have been hit by the line drive on the high inside of his shin. With head trainer Joe Benge and manager Kevin Cash watching, Pepiot threw two test pitches before Cash took the ball from Pepiot and called for a replacement. | 4/30/24 | Rays Shut Down Brewers. MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Tampa Bay Rays pulled off a 1-0 win on Monday night at American Family Field. Ryan Pepiot and three relievers shut down the high powered Brewer offense but for the second day in a row, an umpire's call affected the outcome. The Brewers had runners on second and third with one out in the 9th when a potential third strike to Jake Bauers got past the Rays catcher allowing Sal Frelick to score the tying run. But umpire Ryan Addition ruled that Bauers had hit catcher Rene Pinto with his backswing, calling Bauers out and returning Frelick to third base.
