| 8/22/25 | Tigers plan to add another lefty to bullpen before Royals series. DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers are adding a second left-hander to the bullpen ahead of this weekend's series against the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers will select the contract of reliever Drew Sommers from Triple-A Toledo before Friday night's opener at Comerica Park. Sommers will be making his big-league debut. The news was first reported by the Detroit Free Press . Detroit carried only Tyler Holton as a lefty option during the recent series against the Houston Astros, whose lineup is right-handed heavy. Two other southpaws, Brant Hurter and Bailey Horn, were optioned to Toledo earlier this month and won't be eligible to return until September.
