5/13/24 Giants ride ups and downs of youth movement in latest loss to Dodgers. The Giants got big nights from Luis Matos and Heliot Ramos but were undone by a backbreaking mistake by rookie Tyler Fitzgerald against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.

5/11/24 Giants' Heliot Ramos makes a PHENOMENAL diving grab to prevent Reds' base hit. San Francisco Giants' Heliot Ramos made an incredible diving catch to prevent the Cincinnati Reds' base hit.

1/19/24 Community Prospect List No. 14. The offseason trudges on, and so too does our 2024 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List, in which we come together as a lovely community to rank the top 44 prospects in the San Francisco Giants organization. Coming in at No. 13 is a prospect that anyone who reads this site knows holds a special place in my heart: outfielder Heliot Ramos. Despite an awful 2022 and an excellent 2023, Ramos falls one spot in the CPL, after being ranked No. 12 last offseason. Ramos, who is somehow still on the young side of 24 despite being the team's first-round pick back in 2017, exorcised some high-Minors demons in 2023.

8/31/23 Minor League round up, 8/30: the very persistent Ramos of Sacramento. First up is the hitter who had the most impressive day, right fielder Heliot Ramos (No. 12 CPL). Ramos hit 1-3 with a booming home run, and also drew 2 walks, which is surely something the Giants love to see. The Giants certainly value physical skills over the mental element of the game, as they should.

8/25/23 Minor League round up, 8/24: Heliot Ramos refuses to go away. All four of the San Francisco Giants Minor League Baseball affiliates were in action on Thursday, or at least all four whose seasons are still alive (the ACL and DSL seasons have come to a close). Point the first: Ramos has not been afforded 10% of the leash that other prospects in the organization have been. The Giants are obviously far lower on him than they are on the Casey Schmitts and Wade Mecklers of the world, and that's OK and probably warranted. Point the second: The single biggest issue facing the Giants struggling offense right now is a lack of hitting the ball hard.

8/18/23 The SF Giants don't hit the ball hard. Does that matter?. Heliot Ramos' home run last Saturday was their 21st such event of the year, fewer than any team but the Washington Nationals. Simply put, the Giants don't hit the ball very hard. “Always,” manager Gabe Kapler said. Six games in the next 10 days against the Atlanta Braves will provide somewhat of a test case.

8/13/23 Could a rejuvenated Heliot Ramos be the spark the SF Giants' lineup needs?. It meant nothing to the outcome of the game but everything to Heliot Ramos. A year and a half after getting his first call to the big leagues, Ramos slugged his first career home run Saturday night in the ninth inning of a 9-3 loss to the Rangers. “Now I can tell my brother that I hit my first one — harder than him,” Ramos said of his older brother, Henry, 31, who was called up by the Reds on Saturday for his third look in the major leagues. While it was a long time coming for the 2017 first-round pick, it was also a reminder of his immense potential and, despite him being yo-yo'd between the majors and Triple-A Sacramento, that he is still three weeks away from his 24th birthday.

8/12/23 Ramos has opportunity to stick with Giants after recent success. As Heliot Ramos settled back into Oracle Park on Friday afternoon, he got some great news. Henry Ramos, his older brother, got called up by the Cincinnati Reds, and the two got to talk about a tantalizing possibility when they caught up after the move became official. The Reds visit Oracle Park at the end of August, which could allow the brothers to face off in the big leagues for the first time. The younger Ramos hasn't been able to stick with the big league club yet, but he hit his first homer on Saturday, and for a second straight night he blasted the hardest-hit ball of the night for a slumping Giants offense.

8/10/23 Why Heliot Ramos might be just the kick in the pants the dreadful Giants' lineup needs. The San Francisco Giants have had the worst lineup in Major League Baseball for the last 41 days with no signs of that rank improving. If the headline got you to click, then you know I'm about to discuss Heliot Ramos, who was called up last night. 9 games of major league futility and a 60-day stint on the IL for an oblique injury might've been enough to sink most seasons, but the (still just!) 23-year old Ramos has persevered and in 45 games (181 PA) with the River Cats, he hit .303/.359/.543, including 8 home runs, 3 triples, and 9 doubles — 20 of his 49 hits were extra base hits. What does this impressive run by a former top prospect of the Giants have to do with anything?

8/10/23 SF Giants Injury Update: Heliot Ramos called up, AJ Pollock to IL. During Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels, AJ Pollock was pulled after experiencing “side discomfort”. The San Francisco Giants made it official yesterday and put him on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. Obliques are a tricky injury, unfortunately, you may recall Hunter Pence being sidelined with a similar issue for much longer than was expected back in 2015, ending what had already been an injury-shortened season (after his wrist was broken in spring training) in mid-August. Ramos previously played nine games with the Giants this season, batting .192/.269/.491, before he, as well, suffered an oblique injury and was sent on the 60-day injury list.

7/21/23 Minor League round up, 7/20: Heliot Ramos keeps knocking. All eight San Francisco Giants Minor League Baseball affiliates were in action on Thursday, so let's dive right in to a whole bunch of games. Sacramento was in dire need of a win after a 7-game losing streak, and finally stopped the bleeding. After a few rough days had splashed drops of water on his flaming hot hitting streak, right fielder Heliot Ramos (No. 12 CPL) returned with a vengeance in this one, hitting 3-4 and finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Ramos was injured in early May, started a Low-A rehab stint in late-June, and returned to Sacramento in early July.

6/28/23 Minor League round up: Heliot Ramos returns, Rayner Arias shines. Just three games for the San Francisco Giants Minor League Baseball affiliates on Tuesday, as the A-ball teams all had a rare second-straight day off, while the ACL Black team didn't play. It's been a tough season for Ramos. The extent of the injury wasn't really known, and my feeling was that if it was a season-ending injury then it was probably the last that we'd seen of Ramos wearing black and orange.

4/09/23 Can Heliot Ramos make most of his callup?. Alex Pavlovic tweeted this morning that the San Francisco Giants have called up Heliot Ramos to help with the contingent of left-handed starting pitchers the team is set to face starting today with KC's Kyle Bubic. Beginning tomorrow, Julia Urias, Clayton Kershaw, Eduardo Rodriguez, Joey Wentz, and Matthew Boyd are all in the mix and the Giants will need some help from the right side while Mitch Haniger continues to recuperate.

3/10/23 Why SF Giants made former top prospect Heliot Ramos one of their first spring training cuts. This time last year, Heliot Ramos was one of the Giants' most promising prospects and among the candidates to break camp in the San Francisco Giants outfield. The only other player on the 40-man roster to be cut sooner was right-hander Randy Rodriguez, who only reached Triple-A at the very end of last season. “He just didn't perform at the minor-league level last year,” manager Gabe Kapler said.

1/13/23 Community Prospect List No. 13. The 12th chapter of the 2023 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List is in the books, and it stars a player who has been a staple of the CPL for many, many years: outfielder Heliot Ramos, who has been voted as the No. prospect in the San Francisco Giants organization. Ramos, who falls eight spots after being No.

1/12/23 Cincinnati Reds make signing of OF Henry Ramos official. You’ve heard of Heliot Ramos, right? Former 1st round draft pick, consensus Top 100 overall prospect for years running, just made a cameo big league debut last season? The Cincinnati Reds did not acquire him from the San Francisco Giants, but they did sign his brother!

9/27/22 Minor League round up, September 26. AAA Sacramento (63-83) Sacramento River Cats lost to the Las Vegas Aviators (A’s) 8-3 Box score It’s always great when the players in the Minors who you really want to see have good days have good days.
