6/26/25 Cardinals All-Star Hopeful Becoming 'Untradeable' Asset. The St. Louis Cardinals certainly couldn't ask for more from Brendan Donovan this season. There's a very real chance that Donovan will land a spot on the National League All-Star team and he absolutely deserves it. The 28-year-old has played 73 games so far this season for St. Louis and is slashing .305/.372/.432 with five homers, 29 RBIs, three stolen bases, 21 doubles, and 43 runs scored. Donovan already has 87 base hits this season, good for sixth in the National League.

6/19/25 Cardinals get encouraging update on Brendan Donovan extension. The St. Louis Cardinals have a lot to manage over the next few months. While the 2025 MLB trade deadline will be a hugely important time, the team also needs to make tough decisions on how it will construct its roster for years to come. One of the focal points of this rebuild, the Cardinals are on the precipice of, is Brendan Donovan. The team's versatile infielder and outfielder, Donovan, is a huge part of the Cardinals at the moment, but with an extension looming in two more years, there is concern that he could be on his way out of the city.

6/18/25 Cards' Brendan Donovan looks to continue hot streak vs. White Sox. Whether Brendan Donovan remains atop the St. Louis Cardinals' batting order is to be determined, but his contributions in a recent cameo can't be overlooked. Donovan enters Wednesday night's visit to the Chicago White Sox with six hits in his past two games, including a 4-for-5 effort during St. Louis' 12-2 rout in the series opener Tuesday. Traditional leadoff man Lars Nootbaar returned to the lineup and scored a run from the No. 7 slot but recently was held out as he tries to halt an extended skid. Nootbaar is 5-for-51 with 20 strikeouts in his last 13 games.

Alec Burleson went 3 for 5 for St. Louis, including his sixth home run, a solo shot in the seventh that made it 9-2. Victor Scott II — in the midst of a 5-for-35 slump — hit a two-run homer off Chicago position player Vinny Capra in the ninth.

6/15/25 Cardinals Lineup Could Feature Breakout Star Vs. Brewers. The St. Louis Cardinals haven't had one of their most important bats in the lineup over the last few days but it sounds like that could change on Sunday. MLB.com's John Denton shared that all went well for Donovan on Saturday and the current expectation is that he will be ready to return on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. "Cardinals 2B/LF Brendan Donovan (sprained left big toe) said he came out of today's BP and ground ball work pain free and expects he will be ready to return to the lineup on Sunday vs. the Brewers," Denton said. St. Louis has been playing short-handed as it hoped to avoid an Injured List stint for Donovan.

6/14/25 Cardinals get bad news on fan favorite Brendan Donovan. It's not what you want to hear if you're a St. Louis Cardinals fan, especially in the midst of a six-game losing streak. Infielder Brendan Donovan missed his third consecutive game on Friday as the team evaluates the severity of his sore left big toe injury. Per Derrick Goold of St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals are willing to play this weekend against the Brewers shorthanded to allow Donovan time to recover, with a final decision of whether or not he hits the injured list to be made on Sunday. “I want to see how he responds to moving around,” Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said.

6/12/25 Cardinals Breakout Star Called 'Surprise All-Star Candidate'. St. Louis Cardinals utility man Brendan Donovan has been quite the pleasant surprise for St. Louis this season. The young star is slashing .310/.379/.440 early on in the season and he's been a huge reason why the Cardinals have been as successful as they've been. FanSided's Zachary Rotman recently suggested Donovan was the Cardinals' most surprising All-Star candidate early in the season. "Brendan Donovan has always been a solid player for the St. Louis Cardinals, but did anyone expect him to have the season he's had thus far?" Rotman wrote.

6/12/25 Cardinals Building Block Linked To Astros Blockbuster Trade Buzz. The St. Louis Cardinals have one of the National League's biggest surprises of the season. Brendan Donovan looks like an All-Star and is having the best season of his career so far. The Cardinals have been missing him over the last few days and now their record is down to 36-32 on the season. While this is the case, there is no reason for the Cardinals to even think about trading him, but The Athletic's Jim Bowden called him a “possible target” for the Houston Astros.

6/07/25 Cardinals Gold Glove Winner Projected To Be NL All-Star Starter. The St. Louis Cardinals have outperformed expectations this season. They were expected to be bottom dwellers in the National League Central, only to rise to second place at the start of June and be just four games back of the Chicago Cubs. They also are just a half-game back of the third NL Wild Card spot, so things are looking up for a team that was supposed to be rebuilding. Leading the way has been second baseman Brendan Donovan, who won a Gold Glove in his rookie season in 2022. He is in the top five in Major League Baseball in hits, and Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter predicts Donovan will be the starting second baseman for the National League in this year's Midsummer Classic in Atlanta.
