4/27/25 From Philadelphia to Minnesota: Phillies trade infielder Kody Clemens to Twins. The Philadelphia Phillies traded infielder Kody Clemens to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced Saturday morning. Clemens, the 28-year-old son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Wednesday. The Twins were in need of another infielder after rookie Luke Keaschall broke his forearm in the first inning of Friday's game against the Angels. Minnesota is expected to use Clemens as a backup at first and second base, but he also has played third base and both corner outfield positions in the majors.

Earlier on Friday, the Twins announced they had dropped catcher Diego Cartaya off their 40-man roster, which opened a spot for Clemens. Cartaya cleared waivers and will continue to play in the Twins' minor-league system. The son of legendary pitcher Roger Clemens, Kody Clemens now gets a fresh start after being designated for assignment by Philadelphia earlier this week.
