3/02/24 | Yankees' Jose Trevino, Oswald Peraza injury updates filled with promise. Once again, one of the biggest storylines of Yankees spring training has been injuries. Other than the Yankees revealing on report day for pitchers and catchers that reliever Scott Effross won't pitch until summertime due to December back surgery, the calf strain that catcher Jose Trevino had at the start of spring training plus infielder Oswald Peraza's recent tightness in his throwing shoulder are the only injuries. The Yankees predicted at the start of spring training that Trevino would miss the first two weeks of Grapefruit League games, then return in early March and log plenty of reps prior to his Opening Day start catching Gerrit Cole on March 28 season in Houston. 2/15/24 | Yankees relievers Scott Effross, Lou Trivino hoping for speedy returns. Having had two surgeries since he last pitched in a game, Scott Effross couldn't help but joke as he stood by his locker Thursday. Effross missed the entire 2023 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2022. Effross, who pitched well over 13 games for the Yankees after being acquired from the Cubs in 2022, said that the procedure “instantly” offered relief and that he's feeling great now. “It's extremely disappointing,” Effross said.
