5/12/24 Angels offense continues to struggle while Patrick Sandoval endures one bad inning. The Angels patchwork lineup once again failed to put together much of anything. One bad inning from Patrick Sandoval was enough to send the Angels to a 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals because the offense continues to struggle to find any type of consistency. The Angels (15-26) have scored two runs or fewer in six of the last 11 games. The game got off to an ominous start when Luis Guillorme led off with a double, but the Angels couldn't even get him to third.

5/07/24 Patrick Sandoval dominates and Angels' bats come to life against Pirates. Patrick Sandoval took another step toward getting his career back on track on Tuesday. Sandoval pitched seven innings in the Angels' 9-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, with Kevin Pillar's two homers and career-high six RBIs providing the bulk of the support. Although it might be easy to dismiss this outing because the Pirates are not a good offensive team, it came on the heels of a 10-strikeout performance in five innings against the Philadelphia Phillies. Sandoval gave up three hits, struck out seven and walked one on Tuesday, throwing 71 strikes among his 103 pitches.

5/06/24 Angels still looking for perfect mix with Patrick Sandoval. The Angels are trying to adjust the dial to get it just right with Patrick Sandoval. A day before Sandoval was set to take the mound against the Pittsburgh Pirates, pitching coach Barry Enright said ideally they'd like to have him still be effective while being more balanced. “He's going to have to find the version to blend those two together to be his best version,” Enright said on Monday. Sandoval told The Athletic last week that a part of the issue has been how he's been trying to change his personality on the mound.

3/29/24 Angels starters looking forward to traditional 5-man rotation. As Patrick Sandoval was analyzing what went wrong during his forgettable Opening Day start on Thursday, he took some solace in the fact that it's just one game in a long season. The Angels now have a traditional five-man rotation. Because of the unique circumstances of having Shohei Ohtani, the Angels used a six-man rotation almost exclusively in recent years. While the Angels loved having a pitcher of Ohtani's caliber, they also dealt with logistical problems because they would not use him on a normal four days of rest.
