| 8/08/25 | Former Wildcats Gets Tough News. In 2023, the Arizona Diamondbacks made an improbable run to the World Series despite being an 84-win team and barely sneaking into the postseason. The Diamondbacks pulled off upsets over the Brewers, The Dodgers and the Phillies to get to the game's biggest stage. During that run in the postseason, former Arizona Wildcats pitcher Kevin Ginkel played a critical role in a bullpen that caught fire at the right time and helped carry the team to the World Series. It might go down as the best postseason performance from a relief pitcher in Diamondbacks history. Source: https://www.si.com/college/arizona/kevin-ginkel-di... |
| 8/06/25 | D-backs' Kevin Ginkel moved to 60-day IL to end season. Kevin Ginkel's season is over after the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday moved him from the 15-day injured list to 60-day IL with a sprained right shoulder. The D-backs also optioned left-hander Kyle Nelson and selected the contract of 35-year-old Casey Kelly, a right-hander who made his major-league debut in 2012 for the San Diego Padres but from 2019-24 played in the KBO League. Kelly returned to the United States in 2024 and made two appearances for the Cincinnati Reds last season before signing with Arizona on a minor-league deal. | 8/05/25 | Key Diamondbacks Reliever May Miss Rest of Season. On Tuesday, Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo provided a discouraging update on one of Arizona's key relief arms. Right-hander Kevin Ginkel was placed on the 15-day IL on Monday with a right shoulder sprain. According to Lovullo, the two injuries are unrelated, but this new one may cost Arizona. As reported by Arizona Sports 98.7's Alex Weiner, Ginkel is seeking a second opinion on his sprained right shoulder from notable surgeon Dr. Keith Meister.
