4/13/24 Blue Jays receive important Jordan Romano, Alek Manoah injury updates. The Toronto Blue Jays have endured a sluggish start to the 2024 campaign, and while they haven't exactly played well on the field, the bevy of injuries they are currently dealing with isn't exactly helping them much. Luckily, it seems like they are close to getting a few reinforcements, with Jordan Romano and Alek Manoah headlining that group. Both Romano and Manoah are key pieces of the Blue Jays pitching staff, but neither guy has taken the mound yet this season due to injuries. It sounds like they both are close to returning, though, as Romano will come out of the bullpen in Triple-A on Saturday, while Manoah will draw the start at Triple-A on Saturday too, even though he struggled in his latest rehab start in Single-A.

4/09/24 Blue Jays could soon welcome back three big pieces to their active roster. The Toronto Blue Jays have had a somewhat disappointing start to their season, but are expected to welcome back some key contributors soon to help turn things around. Closer Jordan Romano, who has yet to pitch for the Blue Jays this season due to an elbow injury, is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday. TSN's Scott Mitchell reports that he should be active soon after if all goes well. Mitchell also reports the same for Erik Swanson, who couldn't begin the season with the Blue Jays because of a forearm injury.

3/26/24 Blue Jays relievers Romano, Swanson likely to start season on IL. Toronto Blue Jays relievers Jordan Romano and Erik Swanson are expected to begin the season on the injured list in a significant blow to the back end of the team's bullpen. Romano, an All-Star closer, has been dealing with right elbow inflammation. Swanson, a top setup man, was slowed by right forearm inflammation. With opening day coming up Thursday at Tampa Bay, manager John Schneider told reporters in Florida it's “reasonable to say” that Romano and Swanson probably will start on the IL.

10/02/23 Playoff-bound Blue Jays persevered after a wobbly September, next up is the Twins. Things looked bleak for the Toronto Blue Jays a few weeks ago when they were swept in emphatic fashion by the visiting Texas Rangers. The four-game losing skid dropped Toronto below the wild-card cutline. "George came around to every single guy that was in here, telling them not to give up, to keep going," said Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano.

10/01/23 Blue Jays clinch from couch, head into final day with wild card opponent undecided. Most of the Toronto Blue Jays were watching from couches at home when their team clinched a playoff spot. Toronto earned an AL wild card for the second straight season when Seattle lost 6-1 to Texas on Saturday night. “It was great,” said All Star closer Jordan Romano, who was at home with his wife. After the Rangers put together a four-run third inning against Luis Castillo, Romano felt confident enough to take his dog for a walk.

9/26/23 Jordan Romano rocked again as Blue Jays blanked by Yankees in dud start to homestand. Finally, the Blue Jays had seemingly done enough to get their playoff destiny in order, just three wins away, and potentially less with some out-of-town help, to secure a spot. 9/24/23 Jays attempt to bounce back in series finale vs. Rays. On Sunday afternoon in a significant matchup at St. Petersburg, Fla., Toronto will face Tampa Bay Rays in the finale of a three-game series between the American League East rivals. Toronto rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the middle contest, but closer Jordan Romano failed to hold a one-run lead as the Rays (95-61) came back to win 7-6 and assured themselves of -- at worst -- home-field advantage as the No. 1 AL wild-card team.

8/15/23 Tuesday Bantering: Phillies Notes. The Jays start a two-game series against the Phillies tonight at Rogers Centre. The good news is that Jordan Romano will be back with the team. Unless something strange happens Nate Pearson will be heading back to Buffalo. The Phillies are 65-54, second place in the NL East, 11 games back of the Braves. They hold the first NL Wild Card spot. They are 14-12 through their last 26 games. Brandon Marsh is on the IL with a bruised knee. He won't be out long, but I'd be ok with him missing these two games. He's been their best hitter. Bryce Harper is hitting .289/.378/.425. He's been DHing and playing first, while recovering from Tommy John. Nick Castellanso: .280/.319/.471. Bryson Stott: .297/.342/.438.

8/12/23 Blue Jays send RHP Jordan Romano on rehab assignment. (Photo credit: Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports) The Toronto Blue Jays moved closer to getting the back of their bullpen intact, sending All-Star closer Jordan Romano on a rehab assignment Saturday to Triple-A Buffalo. The Blue Jays also recalled Nate Pearson from Triple-A and placed fellow right-hander Hagen Danner on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain. Romano, 30, has been out since late July with lower back inflammation. He was 4-5 this season with a 2.79 ERA and had 28 saves in his second-consecutive All-Star campaign. The right-hander has a career 18-13 record with a 2.62 ERA and 89 saves in five seasons with the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays are planning on a short rehab stint, and
