6/19/25 Luis Arraez's elite plate discipline results in MLB feat not seen since 2004. San Diego Padres first baseman Luis Arraez has become baseball's best contact hitter. The three-time batting champion puts the ball in play. That approach has led to his major league-best .319 career batting average and his preposterously low 6.3 career strikeout percentage. Arraez took his aversion to whiffing to a new level Thursday night. The seventh-year veteran became just the second player since 2000 to have two streaks of 100+ plate appearances without a strikeout, according to Francys Romero on X. Juan Pierre is the other player to accomplish the feat with 100+ streaks in 2001 and 2004. Arraez reached the 100 plate appearance mark against the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, per Romero.

5/27/25 1 player Miami Marlins must trade before 2025 deadline. As the 2025 MLB trade deadline approaches, the Miami Marlins find themselves at a crossroads familiar to their fans, balancing the promise of a rebuilding roster with the realities of a franchise that struggles to sustain contention. After a flurry of moves over the past year, including the headline-grabbing Luis Arraez deal and a series of prospect-driven trades, the Marlins are once again poised to be sellers. Sandy Alcántara is no stranger to trade rumors. The 2022 NL Cy Young winner has long been the Marlins' ace and face of the franchise, but a confluence of factors makes him the most logical player for Miami to move before the deadline.

According to The Athletic's Jim Bowden, soon-to-be free agent slugger Kyle Schwarber could be a guy that makes sense with the Friars.
