12/26/24 | Phillies 'likely' to trade All-Star fan favorite ahead of free agency this season. The Philadelphia Phillies have decided to shake things up a little bit this offseason. One of them is left-hander Ranger Suarez, who has performed well over the years, especially in the postseason. Brad Wakai of Sports Illustrated predicted that Suarez will ultimately be traded at some point during the 2025 season. "The Phillies were rumored to be shopping Ranger Suarez this winter already, but after bringing in the ace from the Miami Marlins, it seems like the plan is to go with a run prevention approach instead of continuing to boost their lineup," Wakai wrote. 12/21/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Predicted Not To Trade Ranger Suarez This Offseason. The Philadelphia Phillies have yet to make the big splash that many have been expecting this offseason, as their desire to shake things up has yet to happen. After a bad loss in their playoff series against the New York Mets, the Phillies seemed determined to make some changes to a roster that hasn't quite been able to get over the hump. Despite there being a lot of talent on the roster, Philadelphia has come up short in October for one reason or another, and it has certainly led to frustration. There is still a possibility for them to make some headlining moves with plenty of time before the upcoming campaign begins, and with trades being a possible avenue for them to pull that off, one of the players who has been rumored to be on the block is starting pitcher Ranger Suarez. 12/18/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Ranger Suarez Now Represented by Scott Boras. If the Philadelphia Phillies were planning on extending starting pitcher Ranger Suarez before he reached free agency after the coming season, their negotiations will be much tougher now. The lefty has spent the last seven years with the Phillies and has made a name for himself as a solid left-handed option for the middle of a rotation. With a career ERA of 3.42 across 604 2/3 innings in 161 games with 554 strikeouts and a 121 ERA+, Suarez's ability to induce groundballs has become a calling card for the starter, one that has made him a popular figure among fans of the team. In an Instagram story on Monday, the Boras Corporation revealed that Suarez changed his representation from Daniel Szew of LA Sports Management to the Scott Boras-led agency that recently landed Juan Soto a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, the largest contract in the history of professional sports.
