5/08/24 Giants turn to Jordan Hicks in rematch vs. Rockies. The San Francisco Giants were scuffling coming into Colorado, but they hope they are starting to turn things around, beginning with a 5-0 win over the Rockies in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday night. The Giants will try for a second straight victory when the teams reconvene in Denver on Wednesday night. San Francisco will send Jordan Hicks (2-1, 1.89 ERA) against Colorado's Peter Lambert (2-1, 5.66) in a matchup of right-handers. Hicks will make his eighth appearance against the Rockies and his first career start against them.

5/03/24 Miscues loom large in SF Giants' series-opening loss to Phillies. Facing the stiffest test of his short career as a starting pitcher, the biggest impact Jordan Hicks made Friday night against the Phillies wasn't anything he did on the mound. With the speedy Trea Turner standing on second base with one steal already under his belt, Hicks remained stationary when his full-count splitter to Bryce Harper popped out of Tom Murphy's glove. Replay review confirmed Turner's right foot slid across the plate just ahead of an acrobatic attempt at a tag from the pitcher, and that might as well have put the game out of reach for the Giants. It was the Phillies' fourth run, a total San Francisco failed to reach for the eighth consecutive game in a 4-3 loss.

4/21/24 Despite throwing just 65 innings last year, Jordan Hicks wants to stay in SF Giants' rotation for good. As the Friday night sun started to set at Oracle Park, Jordan Hicks looked into the outfield and thought about the two ERA leaders in the National League. In first place was Reynaldo Lopez, a 30-year-old right-hander with the Atlanta Braves who began the season with a 0.50 ERA through his first three starts, though he spent the last two seasons as a one-inning relief pitcher. “Another reliever turned into a starter,” Hicks said with a smirk. In second place was Hicks (1.57 ERA), a 27-year-old right-hander on the Giants who was one of the game's best relievers last year while handling the late innings for the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays.
