7/01/25 | Yankees trade pitch brings intriguing Athletics reliever to New York. For the New York Yankees, the trade deadline is always an opportunity. In a weak American League, the Yankees have the chance to flex their "because they're the Yankees" spending power. An area to watch is the bullpen, a typically dominant facet of the last decade of Yankees teams. Finding a second left-hander to pair with the reliable Tim Hill would be a prudent move for New York this summer. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/new-york-yanke... |
6/25/25 | Yankees blockbuster trade pitch lands 2-time All-Star from rival Orioles. The New York Yankees undoubtedly need a left-handed reliever at the trade deadline. Tim Hill has admittedly been excellent, but he's the only consistent southpaw the Yankees have had all season. Adding a harder-throwing lefty could both relieve some of the pressure on Hill and give manager Aaron Boone some different tricks to deploy late in games. 6/24/25 | Aging Yankees Reliever Thriving With 'Less Gas'. No one seems to know that better than New York Yankees reliever Tim Hill. FanGraphs noted Hill, 35, is throwing with less velocity this season, with his sinker averaging 88.2 mph. Four years ago, it was clocked at 91.1 mph, leading the site to conclude "few pitchers cook with less gas." At the same time, Hill's sinker is getting "sinkier," according to FanGraphs. The site noted Hill's vertical drop on his sinker was 34.9 inches in 2021. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/yankees/news/aging-new-york... |
6/14/25 | Yankees fume over replay, ejections after Red Sox walk-off: 'I want the courage to overturn the call'. The Red Sox won a low-scoring affair over the Yankees in dramatic fashion on Friday night, claiming a 2-1 victory after Carlos Narváez played the part of hero. The catcher, a former Yankee traded to Boston over the winter, came up clutch in the 10th inning, launching a walk-off single off Tim Hill and The Green Monster. The shot sent Fenway Park into a frenzy and left the Yankees ruminating over a few calls that didn't go their way in the top of the frame. Narváez's late drive followed a half-inning that saw Anthony Volpe, the Yankees' automatic runner, gunned down at third on a stolen base attempt. 4/01/25 | Three more Yankees homers not enough as bullpen torpedoes lead late in loss to Diamondbacks. The Yankees aren't going to torpedo their way through the season. They learned that Tuesday night in The Bronx, blowing a late lead to the Diamondbacks in a 7-5 loss, their first defeat of the year following a sweep of the Brewers to open 2025.
