Vladimir Guerrero
Texas Rangers
OF: 2  DH: 93
2010 Projected Value: $18
Based on 10-team AL-only league

Season Prognosis: Vlad (34) batted .295/.334/.460 in 2009 with 15 home runs in an injury-plagued 2009. He went on the disabled list twice, first for a torn chest muscle from April 18 to May 25, and again for a strained left knee from July 10 to Aug. 4. Expect him to hit well in 2010 - just no longer at an elite injury-free level.

1/10/10The Rangers and Guerrero have agreed to a one-year deal worth about $5 million.
12/20/09The Angels publicly severed ties to Vladdy with the recent signing of OF/DH Hideki Matsui. Vlad won AL MVP honors in 2004 but age and injury slowed him last year. Halos' manager Mike Scioscia said that Vlad has had a Hall of Fame caliber career already, but the Angels are moving forward without him. Angels' General Manager Tony Reagins said that Vlad was great and wished him well. (Can you picture him in a uniform other than the Angels'?)
11/07/09Guerrero has filed for free agency. He batted .295 with 15 HR and 50 RBI in 383 at-bats this year. Except for his first 27 at-bats in 1996, he had never batted under .300 until this year.
10/02/09Guerrero went 1-for-2 yesterday against the Rangers; he batted .404 for this season against them, raising his career average to .396. He is batting .294 overall.
9/26/09Guerrero went 0-for-4 last night, dropping his average to .296. He needs to pick up the pace if he wants to join Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn as the only players in the last 50 years to hit .300 or better for 13 consecutive seasons.
9/19/09Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a third-inning home run (15) in yesterday's game at Rangers Ballpark at Arlington. He returned to the lineup after missing Thursday's series finale in Boston with a bruised left rib cage.
9/18/09The Angels are listing Guerrero as day-to-day after he got hit in the rib cage by a pitch on Wednesday night.
9/06/09The Angels gave Vlad the day off today. He has only one hit in his last 17 at-bats. Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said that Guerrero will start Monday.
9/01/09Guerrero went 3-for-4 with two home runs (13) and four RBI (38) against the Mariners at Safeco last night. He is batting .385 in Seattle. The Halos have two more games there this week. Watch for the Wednesday matchup between King Felix and Vlad (AND Kendry Morales AND Juan Rivera AND Torii Hunter, etc.).
8/29/09Guerrero went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the Angels' 11-7 win over the A's yesterday. Since coming off the DL, he has hit .330 with seven home runs and 13 RBI.
8/18/09Guerrero returned to the lineup after resting a day; he belted two home runs (10) and knocked in five runs to lead the Angels past the Orioles, 8-5. It marked his 38th career multihomer game.
8/16/09Guerrero did not play today - the Angels decided to give him the day off as a precautionary measure after he complained of stiffness in his left knee. He took a pitch on his left knee in last night's game.
