10/12/24 | Elite Philadelphia Phillies Reliever Linked to His Former Team in Free Agency. The Philadelphia Phillies were always going to have to think about their offseason plans, but the hope was they wouldn't have to as soon as they now do. While the free agency period isn't open yet, they'll soon face the reality of making tough decisions. There might not be any bigger than what they do with their two dominant relief pitchers in Carlos Estevez and Jeff Hoffman. When thinking about the Phillies winter, those will continue to be the two biggest questions surrounding the ball club. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/elite-philade... |
10/11/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Predicted To Keep Reliever and Trade High Value Star. Now that the Philadelphia Phillies are officially in their offseason, all sights are on the upcoming offseason and free agency. ESPN's David Schoenfield made two predictions on what they will do this offseason after their early exit in the playoffs. The only three free agents the Phillies have are right handers Carlos Estevez, Jeff Hoffman and Spencer Turnbull. Hoffman was an All-Star for the first time and 2024, and Philadelphia swung a big deadline deal to acquire Estevez, but Schoenfield believes they'll only keep one. 10/10/24 | Orioles could target Phillies reliever to bolster bullpen for 2025. The Baltimore Orioles season is over. Last week, they were eliminated by the Kansas City Royals in the American League Wild Card Series. The Orioles may need some help in the back end of their bullpen. With the Philadelphia Phillies being eliminated, Baltimore could target right-hander Carlos Estevez. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/orioles-c... |
9/26/24 | Philadelphia Phillies Elite Reliever Predicted To Land Expensive $69 Million Contract. When the Philadelphia Phillies traded for right-handed reliever Carlos Estevez, it made perfect sense. Despite him being a rental option, as he'll hit free agency in the offseason, the Phillies needed help in the bullpen. There weren't many flaws on their roster before the trade deadline, and even if the bullpen wasn't necessarily bad, adding help to that department is always important for a contending team. It's unclear if they viewed that move as one to help them win a World Series or if they'd like to keep him around. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/philadelphia-... |
9/19/24 | American League East Team Named Suitor for Pending Philadelphia Phillies Free Agent. When the Philadelphia Phillies traded for Carlos Estevez at the deadline, it was uncertain if the front office viewed the move as one to only help them win right now. If history suggests anything, the Phillies don't trade for players just to make a move. If Dave Dombrowski believes Estevez would be a valuable piece to the bullpen moving forward, which he's proven to be, he'll look to keep him around, despite the chances of him leaving in free agency. Estevez was arguably the best reliever traded at the deadline. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/american-leag... |
