5/29/25 Phillies Prized Pitching Prospect Finally Realizing Immense Potential. The Philadelphia Phillies are in win-now mode with their Major League roster. Loaded with veterans, they are looking to win a World Series as soon as this year. Ahead of the MLB trade deadline in 2024, they unloaded two pitching prospects to acquire Carlos Estevez from the Los Angeles Angels. This past winter, two more prospects, including highly touted shortstop Starlyn Caba, were traded to the Miami Marlins in exchange for starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo.

5/27/25 Phillies May Come to Regret Trading This High-Performing Prospect. Ahead of the 2024 MLB trade deadline, the Philadelphia Phillies made several trades looking to strengthen their roster for the stretch run of the season. One of the deals that they made was with the Los Angeles Angels, acquiring former All-Star closer Carlos Estevez. To land him, the Phillies traded left-handed pitcher Sam Aldegheri and right-handed pitcher George Klassen. Both were prospects at the time of the trade, but the Angels called Aldegheri up to the Big Leagues to make his debut on Aug. 30, 2024.

They have won 14 of their last 16 games and now have a record of 22-16, which has them firmly cemented in the second American League Wild Card spot as the first week of May nears its end. 5/06/25 Two Former Phillies Relievers Get Called Up to Major League Roster by Angels. The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels are no strangers to each other when it comes to making deals. Just last year, the Phillies sent out two of their top prospects to bring in Carlos Estevez, and previously the two teams have been involved in different trades that featured Brandon Marsh, Noah Syndergaard, Logan O'Hoppe and Mickey Moniak. Per Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors, the Angels have selected the contracts of both Hector Neris and Connor Brogdon in their latest set of roster moves.
