4/29/25 Detroit Tigers' Massive Bright Spot Provides Unlikely Offensive Boost. It has been a great start to the season for the Detroit Tigers, who have exceeded expectations early on. Coming into the year, the Tigers have new-found expectations after not only making the playoffs last campaign, but winning a series and coming within one game of making the American League Championship Series. Detroit was very active in free agency, bringing in multiple veterans to help out. For the pitching staff, notable additions like Jack Flaherty gave them a front-line starter to pair with Tarik Skubal, and Tommy Kahnle has been a great weapon late in games out of the bullpen.

4/22/25 Tigers 'tip the cap' to Padres' Pivetta in shutout loss. Jack Flaherty's best weapon Tuesday night failed him just one time and that one time ended up being the margin of victory for the San Diego Padres, who evened the series with a 2-0 win at Comerica Park. "All in all, this game is about execution," Flaherty said. Padres' starter Nick Pivetta, as he has been this whole month, was virtually unhittable, limiting the Tigers to two singles with six strikeouts through seven innings. "He challenges hitters," manager AJ Hinch said of Pivetta, who improved to 4-1 and lowed his ERA to 1.20.

4/15/25 Another tough pitcher awaits Brewers as Tigers visit. The gauntlet of opposing starters will continue for the Milwaukee Brewers when they host the Detroit Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty on Tuesday night in the middle game of a three-games series. Flaherty (1-0, 1.62 ERA) will be opposed by right-hander Quinn Priester (0-0, 1.80 ERA), who will make his second start for the Brewers after being acquired from Boston this month. Detroit won the series opener 9-1 on Monday behind Tarik Skubal, who allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings as he was staked to a comfortable lead. Kerry Carpenter had his fifth homer of the season, tying him with Spencer Torkelson for the team lead.
