5/02/24 Blue Jays fans are frustrated. So is Chris Bassitt. And somehow this offence is even worse than last year. For a while there, it looked as though there might be something special going on at the Rogers Centre on Wednesday. But when all was said and done, the Blue Jays started the month of May the same way they played most of April, by not doing nearly enough with the bats. Starter Chris Bassitt had it going on through the first five innings. The lanky right-hander used a seven-pitch mix to keep the Kansas City Royals not only off-balance, but hitless. × Already a Subscriber? 3/19/24 Blue Jays' Bassitt talks up team's World Series hopes. You can count Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt as a firm believer in the team's World Series aspirations. Bassitt joined an episode of the Chris Rose Rotation podcast this week and offered his opinions on the team's chances of winning the franchise's first MLB title since 1993. Rose asked Bassitt if the Blue Jays were simply “missing something” in the playoffs last year, as they exited after being swept out of the Wild Card by the Minnesota Twins.

11/06/23 "Pure stupidity": Blue Jays' Bassitt slams Gold Glove snub for Varsho. The Toronto Blue Jays had three players win a Gold Glove, but it's the one who didn't that's upsetting starting pitcher Chris Bassitt. On Sunday, Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios, third baseman Matt Chapman, and centre fielder Kevin Kiermaier were all honoured with the American League awards for being the best defenders at their position. Notably absent from the winners' list, though, was right fielder Daulton Varsho, who had arguably the best statistical defensive season of any player in all of baseball. “The fact you can lead in defensive runs saved and not win a gold glove is pure stupidity only baseball can pull off,” Bassitt posted on X Sunday night while sharing data from FieldingBible.com, a popular baseball stats website.

10/03/23 Why Blue Jays handing the ball to Berrios over Bassitt for Game 2 is the right call. Chris Bassitt may be on a heater, but Jose Berrios is the right pitcher for the Blue Jays to lean on in the second game of their wild-card series.

9/29/23 Blue Jays pitcher Bassitt emotional after reaching 200-inning milestone. After making his 12th strikeout of the night against the New York Yankees on Thursday, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt finished his season in style with exactly 200 innings pitched on the year. When the game ended, the 34-year-old was emotional over the milestone. “To get to 200 innings, you have to have so many people trust you; you have to have so much work behind the scenes that people don't see,” Bassitt said to reporters. The moment was especially sweet after going through a difficult season, which saw him opt of a contract with the New York Mets last year.
