5/08/24 Rockies' Kris Bryant, working to overcome disc problems in lower back, takes step toward return. On a day when Kris Bryant took a small step toward returning to the lineup, the veteran first baseman/outfielder talked in-depth for the first time Wednesday about the nature of the back injury that has haunted him since signing with the Rockies before the 2022 season. Bryant exacerbated his back problem on April 13 when he crashed into the outfield wall in Toronto while making a catch in the first inning. Bryant, who signed a seven-year, $182 million free-agent contract with the Rockies before the 2022 season, acknowledged that he has disc and arthritis problems in his lower back. “I guess it's hard to speak on because I'm not a doctor, but the discs in my back are pretty much dried up, so there's a couple of discs that  … they don't function like they did 10 years ago,” Bryant said.

5/01/24 Rockies Mailbag: Is Bud Black on the hot seat? Should he be?. Denver Post sports writer Patrick Saunders with the latest installment of his Rockies Mailbag. Pose a Rockies- or MLB-related question for the Rockies Mailbag. At what point does Bud Black's job security come into question? I know he doesn't have the most talented roster to work with. Still, it seems like they also keep shooting themselves in the foot with coaching mistakes like baserunning errors and mismanaged lineups (Kris Bryant is batting third or fourth, and Ezequiel Tovar is starting the year batting seventh). I know Bud is well-liked in the organization, and he's fairly cheap, but at some point, isn't there a need for fresh ideas in the dugout? — Greg, Denver Greg, I honestly don't know

4/26/24 New poll shows other MLB front offices have zero respect for Cubs' Jed Hoyer. A decade or so ago, the Chicago Cubs front office was not only the toast of the town - but the crown jewel of baseball, a master class in how to run an MLB organization in today's world. Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer were several years into a painful rebuild but the fruits of their labor - and fans' suffering - were starting to pay off with a farm system on a meteoric rise, headlined by the #2 overall pick in the 2013 draft, Kris Bryant.

4/21/24 Prospect News: Orelvis Seeks His Blue Jays Shoes. Rockies OF Jordan Beck (22, AAA) is where it’s at right now, slashing .328/.419/.738 with five home runs, one stolen base, two turntables and a microphone. Colorado’s not getting much of anything from anyone in the outfield, and if past is prologue, Kris Bryant will be on the injured list for quite a while, and OF Sean Bouchard still won’t have much runway on his starting spot. I’m hoping he will because he’s earned an extended look, but I’m also hoping Beck finds a way into that lineup sooner than later. Chaining themselves to the final stretch of Charlie Blackmon’s career isn’t helping the organizational depth chart.

4/19/24 Former Chicago Cubs Superstar Placed On Injured List Again. Former Chicago Cubs Superstar Placed On Injured List Again Injuries continue to plague one of the Chicago Cubs' former superstars. Author: Brad Wakai Apr 19, 2024 In this story: Chicago Cubs MLB Kris Bryant The Chicago Cubs will always love Kris Bryant for what he did during his time with the franchise. Winning NL Rookie of the Year, NL MVP, and a World Series title has a tendency to do that for just about any fan base. But, after the Cubs felt it was time to break up their championship-winning core, the former superstar has had a tough stetch. He was shipped to the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline in 2021, finishing out the season fairly strong with them, hitting seven homers, 22 RBI,

4/18/24 Rockies place Kris Bryant on 10-day IL with a back strain. PHILADELPHIA | The Colorado Rockies placed Kris Bryant on the 10-day injured list with a low back strain. The Rockies made the move prior to Wednesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 32-year-old Bryant had missed the last three games after crashing into the outfield wall to make a catch in Saturday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Rockies recalled outfielder Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque to take Bryant's place.

4/17/24 Rockies Mailbag: Is Kris Bryant's contract one of the worst in Colorado sports history?. Pose a Rockies- or MLB-related question for the Rockies Mailbag. Is it safe to say Kris Bryant's deal is one of the worst signings in Colorado sports history? Mike, Bryant's deal certainly is shaping up as one of the worst. For the record, it was for seven years and $182 million — not $138 million — making it the largest free-agent contract in Rockies history.

4/07/24 Rockies' Kris Bryant reveals death threats amid struggles. The Colorado Rockies are in hell. It certainly doesn't help that one of their franchise players, Kris Bryant, is in the midst of a massive slump. After signing a long-term contract, Bryant has struggled to find the form he once had before. Obviously, everyone in Colorado is frustrated.

4/05/24 Rockies’ Kris Bryant hears the boos and death threats. The game of baseball can be a cruel sport. Just ask Colorado Rockies first baseman Kris Bryant. He was booed, cheered and booed again in the Rockies' 10-7 home opener win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

4/04/24 Kris Bryant, Rockies hope to fare better at home vs. Rays. The Colorado Rockies haven't gotten off to the start they wanted in 2024, and neither has Kris Bryant. The former National League MVP went hitless in his first 18 at-bats before breaking out with two hits at the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night, but it was in another losing effort. Colorado has struggled out of the gate, with poor starting pitching and quiet bats for most of the first seven games. The Rockies have scored two or fewer runs in four games, but the good news is they will now be playing in the friendly confines of Coors Field when they host the Tampa Bay Rays for their home opener on Friday afternoon.

4/03/24 Former Cubs prospect called the biggest disappointments in Chicago Sports history. After the first wave of the Chicago Cubs' rebuild under Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer included the successful arrivals of top prospects Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, and Kyle Schwarber; the belief was that outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez was going to be the next superstar prospect to arrive at Wrigley Field and join the World Series winning core of 2016. Jimenez signed with the Cubs as an international free agency in 2013 when he was 17 years old and by the time he reached 21, he was climbing the ranks of the Cubs' prospect rankings.

3/28/24 Renck: Rockies owner Dick Monfort knows only way to quiet critics is “win all the time and that's what we need to do”. When Dick Monfort sat down at a downtown Denver restaurant earlier this week, his hunger extended beyond brunch. “I want to win,” the longtime Colorado Rockies owner said. Between the endless defeats, undying loyalty to decision-makers, Kris Bryant's underwhelming impact, a lack of starting pitching and uncertainty over whether the games will be available on TV, Monfort remains a target for criticism as the Rockies open their season Thursday night at Arizona. “My biggest problem is I hate losing, and it is hard to debate anybody when you are losing,” Monfort said.

3/17/24 Cubs fans need to relax when it comes to their Pete Crow-Armstrong panic. There hasn't been this much excitement around a Chicago Cubs prospect since pre-2016 when a billboard was erected outside Wrigley Field hyping up Kris Bryant before he even made his MLB debut. Crow-Armstrong will open the year at Triple-A Iowa, where he has just 158 plate appearances to his credit, looking to prove he can excel offensively at the highest level of the minors. A lot of Cubs fans have written him off already based on 19 trips to the plate last summer where he went hitless and a paltry .138/.194/.241 slash line this spring in Cactus League action.
