3/19/24 Seattle Mariners Notebook: What's behind offense's big numbers?. The Seattle Mariners have scored 56 runs in their last seven games. “I just love our approach right now,” Servais said following the Mariners' 12-2 win Tuesday over the Rockies in Peoria (box score here). Mitch Haniger hit his fourth home run of the spring, and Dylan Moore – whose camp Servais has praised in recent days – hit his first while going 3 for 3 and driving in four runs.

2/27/24 Seattle Mariners' Mitch Haniger never wanted to leave. After a year away, Mitch Haniger is back with the Seattle Mariners. “It's good to be back,” the veteran outfielder said Tuesday when he joined Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk, who are broadcasting all week live from M's spring training in Peoria, Ariz. Haniger, 33, was traded to the Mariners ahead of the 2017 season and quickly became one of Seattle's best players. In 2022, though, Haniger missed 105 games due to injury.

2/25/24 Seattle Mariners' Mitch Haniger homers in 1st AB back. Mitch Haniger is back in a Seattle Mariners uniform, and he's hitting home runs again, too. In his first plate appearance since being reacquired by the M's in January, Haniger ripped a solo home run to left field in the team's Cactus League home opener Sunday against the Cleveland Guardians in Peoria, Ariz. As Haniger stepped into the box, he was greeted by a nice ovation from the crowd at the Peoria Sports Complex. Always a fan favorite with the M's, Haniger then really gave them something to cheer about, just like he's done 107 times before in regular season games in Seattle's blue and Northwest green.

1/29/24 Drayer: Seattle Mariners weren't done – How Polanco addition fits. After the Seattle Mariners' trades that brought in Mitch Haniger, Anthony DeScalfani and Luke Raley to the Seattle Mariners three weeks ago had been completed, there was a clear air of relief in a reply to a question posed to president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto. Mariners Trade Breakdown: Who is new 2B Jorge Polanco? “I feel like today is the first time all offseason that we can say if we were playing the opening day game tomorrow, we feel good about the team that we have,” Dipoto said in the media call later that Jan. 5 evening. While some interpreted that as “the Mariners are done this winter,” in reality it was a statement of fact – and a significant accomplishment given the turn the offseason had taken early on, with Dipoto and general manager Justin Hollander needing to subtract from the roster before they added due to financial constraints.

1/19/24 Morosi: 2 infielders who make sense for Mariners in free agency. Do the Seattle Mariners have any notable moves left in them this offseason? Seattle's roster looks much different and more complete now than it did two weeks ago as the Mariners acquired Mitch Haniger and Luke Raley in two separate trades. MLB Network's Jon Morosi thinks there are two veteran free agents that make sense for the Mariners, as he explained during a Thursday visit with Seattle Sports' Wyman and Bob.

1/10/24 Seattle Mariners Breakdown: GM Hollander on trades, what's next. Seattle Mariners general manager Justin Hollander kicked off the first Hot Stove of the offseason Tuesday night on Seattle Sports, and the timing was appropriate with the flurry of what many would call surprising moves made Friday. The M's acquired outfielder Mitch Haniger and pitcher Anthony DeSclafani from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for starter Robbie Ray, and later on the same day picked up outfielder/first baseman Luke Raley from the Rays for infielder José Caballero.

1/06/24 Who's next in the left field carousel?. Happy weekend, San Francisco Giants fans. When the Giants signed Mitch Haniger to a three-year contract last offseason, it seemed like we were finally going to get an end to the infamous, inexplicable, and downright hilarious Opening Day left field curse that has plagued the Giants ever since Barry Bonds took his final swing. Haniger, happiest in left field and clearly signed to be an everyday player, seemed likely to trot out to the left field grass on the first day of the field in 2023, 2024, and 2025, thus finally giving the team a repeat Opening Day left fielder. Instead, he was injured when his inaugural Giants campaign began. So instead of ending the curse in 2023 and 2024, he seemed instead

1/05/24 Mariners ship LHP Robbie Ray to Giants. The Seattle Mariners acquired outfielder Mitch Haniger, right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani and cash from the San Francisco Giants on Friday in exchange for left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray. The trade marks a return to Seattle for Haniger and the end of a largely disappointing run with the Mariners for Ray, a former Cy Young Award winner who missed almost all of 2023 following Tommy John surgery.

11/14/23 Player Review: Mitch Haniger. Notable: The San Francisco Giants were 26-16 with him in the lineup before he missed the second half of June, all of July, and most of August, and they were 7-12 when he played the rest of the way despite the team having an otherwise dreadful September overall (9-19). “We try to limit the time he's down,” Cashman said. For a while now, the industry has factored in “health” as a part of a player's skillset and so while Cashman's words came off as indelicate — perhaps betraying his recovery from a poopstorm — they were indicative of present-day player valuations. Which brings us to Mitch Haniger, the guy the Giants had penciled in as their #2 big fish heading into last offseason.

9/24/23 How SF Giants' playoff chances evaporated over disastrous 10-game road trip. When the Giants embarked on this trip 10 days ago, they were firmly in the playoff race. Walked off Sunday night by the Dodgers, 3-2, they had fallen to 0.2% by the time they boarded their charter flight home. There wasn't a pitcher who completed five innings, the little offense they produced came on one swing of the bat, and they left the bases loaded twice, including in the top of the ninth when Mitch Haniger went down swinging. In a cruel twist of irony, Patrick Bailey bounced into a double play to end the top of the 10th on a play that was nearly identical to the one that scored the winning road against them in the first game of this trip, last Friday in Colorado.

9/22/23 Wait, what's happening with Mitch Haniger?. Of all the foreseeable problems from the multiple free agent deals the San Francisco Giants signed this offseason, Mitch Haniger not playing much was the most obvious. .214/.271/.378 in 57 games (218 PA), the same number of games he played last season for the Mariners (.246/.308/.429 in 247 PA). Now, he will definitely exceed last year's total at some point over these final 9 games, but what seemed like a simple path to playing more games than 2019 has been foreclosed thanks to these comments from Gabe Kapler. Before last night's loss to the Dodgers, Susan Slusser asked him why Mitch Haniger would be out of the lineup for the second game in a row.
