11/10/24 Cardinals Seen As Front-Runners To Land Eight-Time All-Star Hurler, Per Insider. The St. Louis Cardinals are cutting costs this winter but that doesn't mean the front office won't look to make necessary additions to the big-league roster. Acquiring another starting pitcher is likely necessary for the Cardinals after Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson's 2025 club options were recently declined. Fortunately, a future Hall of Fame candidate is looking to add one more season to his illustrious career and the Cardinals are considered a potential landing spot. "Did the Red Birds decline their club options on 37-year-olds Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn just to sign a 40-year-old (Max Scherzer) to a slightly higher salary?" Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote Sunday when discussing where Scherzer could sign this offseason.

11/09/24 Ex-Cardinals All-Star Reportedly Could Reunite With St. Louis For Economical Price. The St. Louis Cardinals will cut costs this offseason but several holes in the roster still need to be addressed via free agency or the trade market. Following the recent decisions to turn down Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson's 2025 club options, the Cardinals must find at least one more starting pitcher to supplant the veteran hurlers in the rotation. Young pitchers such as Michael McGreevy and Andre Pallante will have an increased workload in 2025. Perhaps the Cardinals should add another proven arm to complement Sonny Gray on the frontline of the pitching staff -- if he isn't traded.

11/05/24 Cardinals Surprisingly Seen As Front-Runners To Land Cy Young Hurler This Winter. The St. Louis Cardinals aren't expected to sign many free agents this winter but that doesn't mean they won't look to make appropriate additions when opportunities arise. After declining starting pitchers Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson's 2025 club options, the Cardinals have holes to fill in the rotation. Although doubtful, perhaps St. Louis will make a bid for a future Hall of Fame hurler looking to give it a shot for at least one more season in his illustrious career. Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer has been linked to the Cardinals as a top landing spot for the marquee starter, according to CBS Sports' R.J. Anderson's article on where this offseason's top free agents might sign.

11/04/24 Cardinals $80 Million Star Reportedly Could Be Pursued By Mets This Offseason. The St. Louis Cardinals significantly improved their pitching staff last offseason but could see key pitchers from their arsenal dealt this winter. After recently declining Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson and Keynan Middelton's club options for 2025, the Cardinals are expected to seek the trade market as the front office looks to reduce payroll. Consequently, one of St. Louis' top relievers will likely be placed on the trade block and a National League East rival has been mentioned as a potential suitor. "They (New York Mets) could be involved in talks with the (Milwaukee) Brewers for Devin Williams or with the Cardinals for Ryan Helsley," ESPN's Buster Olney wrote Monday when discussing the Mets' offseason agenda.

11/03/24 MLB’s offseason begins Monday. What three Cardinals are most likely to be traded?. St. Louis will almost certainly allow Lance Lynn, Keynan Middleton and Kyle Gibson to become free agents, too.

10/30/24 Cardinals Should Explore Reunion With Missouri Native Turned International Star. The St. Louis Cardinals improved their pitching staff last offseason but the additions weren't enough to prevent the restructuring that's coming this winter. The rotation received the most significant upgrades with Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson and ace Sonny Gray. With Lynn and Gibson having club options that likely won't be picked up and Gray being on the trade block, St. Louis might need to look for affordable starters this winter. Luckily, a former Cardinals hurler might be a low-cost, high-reward option.

10/17/24 Cardinals expected to decline option for $11 million starting pitcher. The St. Louis Cardinals are likely going to have a much lower payroll in 2025 after missing the playoffs this year. In order to do that, they can start by declining options for two aging starting pitchers. Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report predicts that they will not pick up Lance Lynn's option for 2025. "The Cardinals are looking to trim payroll in 2025, so it stands to reason they will take the $1 million buyout on his option, rather than paying him $11 million to return," Kelly wrote.

10/17/24 Cardinals Predicted To Move On From $11 Million All-Star Soon. The St. Louis Cardinals will have to start making decisions shortly after the 2024 Major League Baseball postseason ends. One notable option St. Louis will have to make a decision about is starting pitcher Lance Lynn. Lynn is a 13-year big league veteran who spent the first six seasons of his career in St. Louis. St. Louis needs to make a decision now about an $11 million club option for the 2025 campaign.

10/15/24 Beloved Cardinals Champion Projected To Get $8.5 Million If Available. The St. Louis Cardinals could end up losing some veterans this winter. St. Louis has some decisions to make, and two of the first that the team will have to make are about the future of veteran pitchers Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson. Both were signed by the Cardinals last offseason and did exactly what the team hoped they would. The Cardinals have club options for both this winter for the 2025 campaign.

10/15/24 Cardinals Urged To Pursue Red Sox Projected $27 Million Hurler. The St. Louis Cardinals may not make a massive investment this winter in the team, but that doesn't mean that the team isn't going to add anyone. St. Louis wants to cut payroll and can do so by parting ways with some of the team's current veterans, like Lance Lynn or Kyle Gibson. There even has been rumors that the team could look to make trades with high-priced veterans like Nolan Arenaado or Ryan Helsley. The Cardinals are looking to reload the organization, but that doesn't mean they can't surprise us in 2025.

10/12/24 Cardinals $75 Million Star Called Trade Option Again, Per Insider. The St. Louis Cardinals' starting rotation clearly isn't going to look the same in 2025. There's always a chance that the Cardinals will bring in one cheap hurler this offseason in some way. The Cardinals also will be parting ways with some players, it seems. Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson are the most likely pitchers to leave the team this winter.

9/23/24 Beloved Rangers Star To Hit Free Agency Opening Door For Cardinals. If the St. Louis Cardinals want to make it back to the playoffs in 2025, they clearly will need to invest in some pitching this winter. The Cardinals' rotation was better in 2024 than it was in 2023. Plus, the Cardinals could lose an important piece or two with speculation building that Lance Lynn won't be back with the club in 2025. St. Louis needs to act quickly once again when free agency opens, and the player who should be at the top of their list is Texas Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.

9/19/24 Cardinals could reunite with standout starter to bolster rotation for 2025. The St. Louis Cardinals are going to have some holes to fill in the offseason. Both Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson could ultimately be gone, as they have club options for 2025 that may not be picked up. This will leave a hole in their rotation. Left-hander Jordan Montgomery has struggled with the Arizona Diamondbacks this season, though he does have a player option for 2025 that he could potentially decline.

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn, playing through a balky right knee this year, went on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday to end his season. In a corresponding move, the Cardinals recalled right-hander Michael McGreevy from Triple-A Memphis. Lynn, who has inflammation in the knee, went out a winner on Tuesday night, pitching six innings and allowing four hits, one run and two walks with five strikeouts in a 3-1 home victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

9/16/24 Coming off shutout win, Cards turn to Lance Lynn vs. Pirates. Lance Lynn is enjoying his reunion with the St. Louis Cardinals, having recorded his 2,000th strikeout and pitching in his 2,000th career inning this season. "When you're old and you play long enough, you get the luxury of having fun milestones like that," said Lynn, who previously was with the Cardinals from 2011-17. Obviously, it's been great to be able to do it in St. Louis, where it all started. Lynn will add to his statistical pile when he starts Tuesday against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates in the second game of a four-game series.

9/12/24 The Lynn that roared: Veteran starter reaches 2K feat, but what will keep him with Cardinals?. When he marched off the mound after three consecutive strikeouts to atomize the Cincinnati Reds' best chance yet to upset his evening in the third inning, Lance Lynn let loose of something other than a fastball. Slowed by an angry right knee for the past five weeks, Lynn pitched around back-to-back singles in the third and kept going with his bulldozing fastball. Nolan Arenado's solo homer was the Cardinals' lone run for the first 17 innings against Cincinnati until Paul Goldschmidt's RBI double in the eighth sent them toward a 2-1 victory at Busch Stadium.

9/11/24 Lance Lynn set to rejoin Cardinals to face Reds. St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn wasn't ready to shut down this season despite being hobbled by a knee injury. Lynn will come off the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday night when the Cardinals (72-72) host the Cincinnati Reds (71-75) in the middle game of a three-game series. The Reds won the series opener 3-0 on Tuesday. "That's why you're still here doing your thing, to be a part of things and try to help the team win," Lynn said.
