4/28/25 Yankees’ J.C. Escarra lives another ‘dream’ with first home run: ‘It can’t get better than this’. There was a time, not too long ago, when no one would have even thought to ask J.C. Escarra for his autograph. On Sunday night, however, the former Uber driver and substitute teacher’s signature was all it took to acquire a personal artifact, as Escarra traded a signed bat to the Yankees fan who caught the first home run ball of the backup catcher’s career. “We’re gonna get that authenticated ...

4/28/25 J.C. Escarra helps solidify fairytale Yankees story with breakout game. J.C. Escarra's journey from Uber driver to backup catcher for the Yankees got another chapter on Sunday, as he homered for the first time in his major league career in a 5-1 win over Toronto in a doubleheader sweep in The Bronx. Escarra took ex-Yankee Chad Green deep to the right field seats with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Yankees a bit more of a cushion. “I didn't feel the ball off the bat,'' Escarra said. “It was amazing.” J.C. 4/28/25 Yankees rookie has unforgettable night, but he's more than feel-good story. J.C. Escarra repeated it back to himself, standing in the Yankees' clubhouse on Sunday night. Maybe it was Escarra's way of pinching himself, making sure the ball he was holding was real and that the 415-foot moonshot he crushed to the bleachers in right-center an hour or so earlier wasn't a figment of his imagination. After all, Escarra had been dreaming about his first big-league home run — while wearing pinstripes — for as long as he can remember. Unless you're Bryce Harper or Paul Skenes, even the highest-ranked prospects and first-round draft picks spend years in the minor leagues.

3/31/25 New Yankee (former Uber driver) J.C. Escarra is treated to NY-style surprise. Now that J.C. Escarra is a bona fide Major Leaguer — the 29-year-old found out he made the Yankees roster on March 22 — he's finding out what it's like to get special treatment. Like he did during a recent night out with his wife, Jocelyn. The group ordered one of the pizzeria's famously thin-crusted “Tie Dye” pizzas, which is topped with three sauces: their version of a classic marinara, creamy vodka sauce, and a fragrant basil pesto that guests usually swirl on themselves. It was quite the edible masterpiece.

Escarra is making an awfully strong bid for the Yankees' backup catcher job. (Rice could also find his way onto the roster as a DH bat and backup first baseman.) Escarra has done nothing to lose the spot and
