8/10/25 Chicago White Sox Swap Four Relief Pitchers In Latest Roster Move. The White Sox haven't gotten much length from their starting pitchers of late, so the team made four roster moves Sunday to replenish the bullpen. Right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez and left-hander Bryan Hudson have been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, while right-hander Elvis Peguero and left-hander Cam Booser have been recalled from Charlotte. A White Sox starting pitcher has not thrown more than five innings since Aug. 2, when Aaron Civale lasted 6.1 innings in a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

6/20/25 Wikelman Gonzalez makes Major League Baseball debut for White Sox. Wikelman Gonzalez is the latest addition to Will Venable's 2025 Chicago White Sox squad. Before the Friday night affair in Toronto, he was called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Also, Davis Martin has a right forearm strain, and southpaw Jake Palisch was called up. Gonzalez made his debut in the 7–1 win in Toronto.

5/03/25 Two underrated White Sox pitching prospects who could make their MLB Debut in 2025. RHP Wikelman Gonzalez and LHP Tyler Schwietzer are two underrated prospects in the Chicago White Sox organization that could make major league debuts at some point this season. Prior to the start of Spring Training 2025, most within the Chicago White Sox organization would've named starting pitching depth as perhaps the organization's biggest strength. It didn't take long for the pitching depth to be tested.

7/09/24 Minor league report: Red Sox position players will be well represented at All-Star Futures festivities, but what about the pitchers?. Righthander Wikelman Gonzalez, the top pitching prospect in the system entering the year, allowed 35 runs through 36 innings to start his Double A season while walking or hitting nearly as many batters (35) as he struck out (36). Against that backdrop, how do the Sox assess what they've seen with their pitching development in the first half of the season? “I'd say it's trending positively,” said farm director Brian Abraham. Abraham cited the breakthrough by Perales — who, thanks to the development of a cutter and sharpening of his splitter/changeup and slider, had cracked top-100 prospect lists for the first time just prior to his injury — as a case where the organization could see a talented young player taking appreciable steps forward.

4/04/24 Sea Dogs starting pitchers look forward to six-man rotation. Apr. 4—As the top pitching prospect in the Boston Red Sox farm system, Wikelman Gonzalez knows anything that helps him develop a routine and protect his strong right arm is a good thing. In that regard, the 22-year old from Maracay, Venezuela, is ready to adapt to the organization's new approach to starting pitching. This season, Boston's starters in Double-A Portland, High-A Greenville and ...

4/01/24 A look at the Red Sox' full-season minor league affiliates and the top prospects at each level. The pitching, of course, is less heralded, though as is the case in the big leagues, the Sox are hopeful that the overhaul of their infrastructure will allow for potential starters such as Wikelman Gonzalez, Luis Perales, Richard Fitts, and David Sandlin to take steps forward and provide some balance. As the Sox try to help their young pitchers, they're going to make some changes to the structure of their work. With minor league affiliates having virtually all Mondays off, the once-a-week starting schedule will permit structured routines for goal-oriented side work.

3/16/24 Kyle Teel Stars For Red Sox In 'Spring Breakout' Game. Sign In The Boston Red Sox had a successful Saturday down at JetBlue Park, as they picked up an 8-2 victory in their “Spring Breakout” matchup against the Atlanta Braves. Kyle Teel, in particular, was spectacular as some of MLB's best young talents showcased their skills in Fort Myers, Fla. Teel finished 2-for-2 from the dish, driving home a run with his third-inning double. He was equally as impressive behind it, helping Wikelman Gonzalez showcase his skills in a tremendous three-inning outing. 3/08/24 Red Sox roster moves: Top two pitching prospects sent down to minors. The Red Sox are off Friday but that didn't stop them from making a couple of roster moves. Boston continued its spring training roster cuts by sending the top two pitching prospects in the system back to the minor leagues. Right-handers Wikelman Gonzalez and Luis Perales were both technically optioned to Triple-A Worcester, but that's a paper move.

2/28/24 '5:27': Red Sox' top 2 pitching prospects added to roster know exact time. Wikelman Gonzalez and Luis Perales, the Red Sox' top two pitching prospects, both somehow remember the exact time assistant GM Eddie Romero called them Nov. 14. “It was 5:27 when Eddie gave me a call to tell me that I was going to be put on the 40-man roster,” Gonzalez said through translator Carlos Villoria Benítez here at JetBlue Park. Boston selected Gonzalez and Perales to the 40-man roster Nov. 14 to protect them from being available to other clubs in December's Rule 5 Draft.
