St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Jordan Walker will miss at least a week after sustaining a minor knee injury when he stepped on a sprinkler head in a spring training game. He had an MRI later Tuesday which showed irritation in his left knee but no structural damage, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters on Wednesday. “It is what it is,” Marmol said. “We'll let it calm down for a week and then we'll ramp that baby back up, and we'll still have time to see him in plenty of (spring training) games.” Walker was removed from the game, which the Cardinals won 6-4 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

3/05/25 Jordan Walker Injury Should Open Door For Cardinals No. 5 Prospect. The St. Louis Cardinals are already facing a bit of adversity after a failed offseason. To make matters worse, outfielder Jordan Walker may miss some time after stepping on a sprinkler head and injuring his knee in Tuesday's split squad game against the Washington Nationals. Depending on how much time Walker misses, if any at all, the Cardinals may need to get creative with their lineup. If Walker misses an extended period of time, the next man up should be Thomas Saggese, the team's No. 5 prospect.

3/02/25 Despite Baker's 2-run homer Sunday, Marlins best Cardinals 5-3. The statistics show that the Cardinals have a .184 team batting average this spring, the worst in the major leagues. “I think we're in a really good spot,” Marmol said. From a swing standpoint and a decision-making standpoint for this time in spring training we are in a good spot. One example of how the statistics can be misleading was Jordan Walker, who was 0-of-2 with a sacrifice fly on Sunday but stung the ball in all three at-bats.

2/24/25 Luken Baker hits 3-run home run, Cardinals beat Mets 7-4. It's admittedly very early in spring training, but Jordan Walker and the Cardinals are very pleased with his performance so far. Walker singled up the middle in his first at-bat, and later doubled down the left field line, driving in a run in his third at-bat in the sixth, as the Cardinals picked up their first victory of the spring, beating the raindrops as well as the Mets. “It is a process, but it is nice to see some results now,” Walker said. The Cardinals have worked with Walker to adjust his swing, staying in longer on inside pitches, which also then allows for him to reach more balls off the plate – which have given him trouble in the past.

11/02/24 Cardinals, Marlins Surprising Trade Proposal Would Send Phenom To Miami. 10/23/24 Could Mets Projected $9 Million All-Star Slugger Fit With Cardinals?. The St. Louis Cardinals seem like they are going to embrace a youth movement heading into the 2024 season. St. Louis has missed the playoffs for two straight seasons, and now it seems like it is all but guaranteed that the Cardinals will use the 2025 campaign as a transition. The Cardinals need to see what they have in some of their young players -- like Jordan Walker and Nolan Gorman -- and the best way to do so will be extended playing time. Chaim Bloom will be the new president of baseball operations after the season.
