4/20/25 Star-studded Mets' sweep illuminates gap 'youthful' Cardinals must find ways to close. There were “teachable moments” on the basepaths and in the batter's box and enough conversations between coaches and players in the dugout that the manager referenced several as examples of how development is a focus for these Cardinals, even in — well, especially in a four-game sweep by the Mets. Oliver Marmol referred to it as a “youthful” series for all its lessons. “We hit adversity, so we're going to learn a lot about ourselves now,” Brendan Donovan said. With all their stars out twinkling in the afternoon, the Mets completed a royal flush of the Cardinals with a 7-4 victory Easter Sunday at Citi Field.

4/15/25 Torpedo Bat Labeled 'Silver Lining' To Cardinals Slugger's Hitting Slump. The St. Louis Cardinals have one of the league's hottest offenses and they've been getting the job done without using the newly designed torpedo bat for most of the season. The New York Yankees popularized the torpedo bat, which designates more wood to the sweet spot of the bat -- a model similar to Cardinals Gold Glove defender Brendan Donovan's stick. "Up until Sunday's home run off Zack Wheeler, Contreras' biggest highlight of the young season might have been him chewing on his batting tape," Bleacher Report's Johnny Flores Jr. wrote Tuesday.

4/06/25 Cardinals Fan-Favorite Called 'Most Likely' To Land Big New Deal. The St. Louis Cardinals have some underrated talent on the roster right now. St. Louis finished above .500 last year and has a lot of pieces that should help the team finish at least at that level this year as well. It's been an odd few years for the Cardinals but there are some really solid pieces to build around for the future. 3/27/25 Twins struggle in season opener, fall to Cardinals. Nootbar got the crowd chanting “Nooooooot” in the second inning, too, when he drove a two-strike changeup from López a half-dozen rows into the right-field seats, a two-run blast. And in the third inning, López forced all five Cardinals batters to hit ground balls — but three of them got past the Twins' defense, the last of them, by catcher Iván Herrera, scoring Brendan Donovan and spotting Gray a 4-0 lead.

1/15/25 Yankees would lose $122 million trade target to Royals in blockbuster trade idea. The New York Yankees could be in the market for an infielder to play over their internal options. The St. Louis Cardinals have a young utility player they could be interested in, but a different American League team could get to him first. Brendan Donovan has filed for arbitration with the Cardinals, perhaps signaling an incoming trade. Donovan could take over for the Yankees at either second or third base.
