The Seattle Mariners needed the 10th save of the season from All-Star closer Andres Munoz and a three-hit day from Jorge Polanco, but they managed to secure their sixth-straight series win with a 7-6 triumph against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Through those trio of outings, Munoz has a 0.00 ERA with five strikeouts in three innings pitched. According to Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710, Seattle Mariners closer Andres Munoz is experimenting with a new changeup. Second pitch in is the Munoz change. Munoz typically features an upper-90s fastball with movement but can go over 100 MPH when he wants to. On a night where they had to win to keep pace with the Houston Astros in the race for the American League West, the Mariners found a way once again to lose a game they probably should've won in the decaying mausoleum that is Angel Stadium. After the Mariners failed to add to an early lead and lost their advantage in the middle innings, Andres Munoz entered a tied game in the bottom of the ninth, trying to force extra innings. Instead, Munoz misplaced a slider that stayed in the lower inside part of the strike zone — the happy place for most lefty hitters — and Mickey Moniak turned it into a towering fly ball that was gone off the bat for his first career walk-off homer and resulted in a crushing 5-4 loss for the Mariners.
