6/04/25 Insider predicts Yankees will make this major upgrade at 2025 trade deadline. The New York Yankees are running away with the American League East, but they have bigger fish to fry. As they look to avenge their World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Yankees have had a nice first couple of months in 2025. With a 37-22 record, New York is validating general manager Brian Cashman's approach to the offseason after Juan Soto's departure. There are a number of avenues the Yankees could pursue, but one Major League Baseball insider is confident that Cashman will make one move in particular.

6/01/25 Soto snaps homer drought as Mets move back into first-place tie in NL East. Juan Soto snapped a 17-game home run drought with a 404-foot homer to left-centerfield in the fourth inning of the New York Mets' 8-2 win Saturday over the Colorado Rockies. “He put a really good swing on it,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. Asked if he was confident the ball would leave the yard, Soto grinned. “I mean, 110 (mph), you've got to be,” Soto said.

5/31/25 Mets fans not worried about Juan Soto slump: 'We know what hell we've been through'. As soon as Juan Soto reached second base after lacing an RBI double to right-center field, he tilted his head back and used both hands to blow a kiss to the sky. The Mets outfielder had finally notched his first hit in 17 at bats, giving fans at Citi Field a reason to cheer for their expensive new slugger in the third inning of the eventual 4-2 win. The shot, coming 112.8 mph off the bat with an 80.9 mph bat speed, was enough for fans to temporarily forget that Soto entered the night on a four-game hitless streak, slashing .224/.352/.393 with eight home runs after signing a $765 million contract with the Mets. Just two days earlier, a small Wednesday day game crowd managed to string together an audible chorus of boos after Soto was unable to get the ball out of the infield for his fifth plate appearance of the day.

5/30/25 The xFiles: Soto’s Not So Juan-derful Start.

Juan Soto is not having a great start to the season or as a Met. Sure, he’s $765 million richer, still walking at an elite rate, scoring a lot of runs, and stealing bases at a greater frequency than expected. But in terms of HR, AVG, and OPS—three big drivers in many leagues—Soto has largely come up flat. Please, blog, may I have some more?

5/30/25 From Yankees to Mets, Juan Soto continues special routine: '(Aaron Judge) loved it every time'. Watch a New York Mets broadcast on SNY (if it doesn't go to commercial too quickly) or a game live at the ballpark and you will notice a routine among outfielders. After every half-inning in the field, Mets outfielders come together before they reach the dugout. The new Mets ritual was spawned by right fielder Juan Soto, who stole the “huddle” from Philadelphia Phillies designated Kyle Schwarber when the two were teammates with the Washington Nationals in 2021.

5/30/25 Yankees' Maximizing Returns on Paul Goldschmidt Deal. The New York Yankees had to switch to offseason plan B when when superstar Juan Soto signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with their crosstown rival, the New York Mets last December. Goldschmidt, who has been in the league since 2011, first with the Arizona Diamondbacks and later with the Cardinals, was coming off of one of the worst seasons of his career.

5/29/25 Hitless again, Soto still passes 'eye test,' Mets say. Mets star Juan Soto, who went hitless again in Wednesday's loss and is batting .224 this season, is "too good of a hitter" for his current slump to last.

5/29/25 Mets' Carlos Mendoza drops defiant Juan Soto take amid 0-for-16 slump. Juan Soto's brief time with the New York Mets has not gone according to plan through the first couple of months of the 2025 season. Despite being mired in an 0-16 slump at the moment, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is not giving up hope on the 26-year-old. “Today was one of those days where he didn't hit the ball hard, but I thought his foundation — his lower half — was in a better position,” Mendoza said of Soto, via ESPN. The Mets need Soto to figure things out at the plate soon.

5/29/25 Juan Soto's concerning stat with Mets hints there might be something wrong with him. Juan Soto's got a long way to go. Through Wednesday, when the Mets lost 9-4 to the White Sox, Soto is hitless in his last four games (0-for-14). Last season, Soto had an average bat speed of 75.4 miles per hour, according to MLB.

5/28/25 Juan Soto's friend speaks out: Mets star is not Barry Bonds — or MLB's best player. Hall of Famer David Ortiz thinks record-setting money has turned people against Juan Soto. Ortiz, who — like Soto — was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and said he knows Soto's family “very well,” tried to recruit the star to the Boston Red Sox this offseason. “We wanted him,” Ortiz said in December. Now, Ortiz believes, Soto's $765 million deal has created unfair expectations of the struggling New York Mets' right fielder.
