4/22/24 SF Giants activate Luke Jackson, seek consistency from their bullpen. In a tight game with a division rival, Erik Miller, Sean Hjelle and Nick Avila was not the bullpen combination Bob Melvin preferred to use Sunday afternoon. Miller surrendered the two decisive runs, and three scoreless innings tossed by Hjelle and Avila were moot in a 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.

3/11/24 Latest round of cuts brings SF Giants' bullpen competition into clearer focus. The competition for the final spots in the San Francisco Giants' bullpen came into clearer focus Monday with the latest round of cuts. Seven pitchers, including lefty Erik Miller, were among the 11 players either optioned or reassigned to minor-league camp. Miller, 26, was described by manager Bob Melvin early in camp as “front and center” in the competition to join Taylor Rogers as the second southpaw in the bullpen but allowed two home runs in three appearances this spring. Melvin has expressed a preference to carry at least one more lefty in his bullpen, and by optioning Miller, that leaves 27-year-old Ethan Small, acquired from Milwaukee for cash last month, as the only remaining left-handed relief option on the 40-man roster.

11/14/23 Giants protect Erik Miller, Kai-Wei Teng, and Trevor McDonald. It turns out that my Rule 5 predictions for the San Francisco Giants were completely accurate. Ahead of Tuesday's deadline to add eligible prospects before December's draft, the Giants protected a trio of pitchers: right-handed starters Kai-Wei Teng and Trevor McDonald, and left-handed reliever Erik Miller. Miller and Teng were two of the four names I predicted the Giants to protect, and I think the case or them is crystal clear. Miller has a high-90s fastball, and prior to his protection, the team only had three lefties, two lefty relievers, and one healthy lefty reliever (Taylor Rogers) on the 40-man roster.

1/10/23 Dave Dombrowski has a plan, and he's executing it. The Phillies sent left-handed relief prospect Erik Miller to San Francisco in the deal, a player with a prospect ranking anywhere in the 10-15 range in their system. Miller was someone who had a chance to potentially win a bullpen job out of spring training, but now he’ll attempt to do so on the west coast. Dombrowski’s mission is clear: find players with high-end skills and acquire them in exchange for depth pieces.

11/16/22 Phillies Leave Miller, De La Cruz Unprotected From Rule 5 Draft. The deadline to protect players from the Rule 5 draft has come and gone, and the Philadelphia Phillies have left two big names unprotected: Erik Miller and Carlos De La Cruz. The Phillies could lose either one in the Rule 5 draft next month. Exposing Miller to the draft, in particular, comes as quite a surprise.

8/19/22 3 Star Phillies Prospects Who Must Be On Expanded September Roster For World Series Push. Morales should stand to benefit from more time in the majors after making his debut earlier this season, making him a very realistic promotion candidate come September. Erik Miller Erik Miller is another player who found a home in the bullpen this season. Miller has bounced back and forth between the starting rotation and the bullpen to start his minor league career, before finally establishing himself as a solid reliever in Double-A. Miller recently got promoted to Triple-A, and could soon find...

8/15/22 Phillies Promote Top Prospect Erik Miller to Triple-A. The promotions are falling like rain drops in a hurricane. Following Andrew Painter's and Mick Abel's promotions Sunday, the Philadelphia Phillies are moving Futures Game' star Erik Miller to Triple-A. Miller, the Phillies' 2019 fourth-round draft selection, has had a dominant year at the Double-A Reading Fightin' Phils, as evidenced by his selection to the 2022 MiLB Futures Game in Los Angeles.
