4/25/24 Bears president: 'I'm not going to think negatively' about stadium obstacles. In laying out their dream for a new $3.5 billion domed lakefront stadium, Bears President Kevin Warren and Mayor Brandon Johnson repeatedly invoked the name of Daniel Burnham as they described a lush and re-imagined Museum Campus with 14 acres of new parkland they claimed would add a worthy new chapter to the Burnham Plan. It could leave Chicago with two lakefront stadiums — and no additional park space. On Thursday, Bears President Kevin Warren was asked about that worst-case scenario during a somewhat contentious meeting with the Sun-Times editorial board.

12/14/23 Rep. Kam Buckner: Soldier Field shuffle offers an opportunity to Chicago and the Bears. When news broke of the Bears considering a new stadium on the land currently housing the south parking deck, it gave many Chicagoans hope that the team would remain nestled on the lakefront and that we would maintain our distinction of being the largest city in the country where every professional sports team plays its home games within the city limits. The possibility of the Bears building a stadium and remaining in Chicago signals that a reset between the Bears organization, by way of new President Kevin Warren, and Mayor Brandon Johnson is not empty rhetoric, but it is the true desire of both parties, which is good for Chicago. In Warren, the Bears have a proven transformational leader. Johnson has been clear-eyed and optimistic about the Bears' situation, which has allowed the conversations to begin anew.

9/22/23 From Hail Marys to homecomings, these are full-circle days for Broncos WR Brandon Johnson: “It's a surreal feeling”. As the son of a big leaguer, some of Johnson's earliest memories are the countless summer days spent around ballparks. You can bother Preston Wilson or Todd Helton. “I got to spend a lot of time in the clubhouse and that was really cool,” Johnson, the second-year Broncos wide receiver, told The Denver Post recently. A smile crosses his face as the subject turns to the reason he spent so many days at the ballpark: His dad, Charles, the four-time Gold Glove winning catcher.

9/18/23 Howell leads big rally for Commanders, who hold on to beat Broncos after Wilson's Hail Mary. Washington cornerback Benjamin St-Juste didn't flinch after Brandon Johnson snared Russell Wilson's 50-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass off a double deflection with no time remaining Sunday. “So, we locked in and made the play,” said St-Juste, who appeared to get away with pass interference when he broke up Wilson's 2-point conversion throw to Courtland Sutton, preserving the Commanders' come-from-behind win.

9/17/23 Broncos receiver Brandon Johnson's Hail Mary touchdown catch gets sent to oblivion after no-call on 2-point conversion. Wide receiver Brandon Johnson doesn't have too many highlights in his two seasons with the Broncos. Denver was pinned midfield and trailing 35-27 with three seconds left in regulation when quarterback Russell Wilson rolled to his left and launched a prayer deep down the field. The throw was a few yards shy of the goal line, but the ball bounced off wide receiver Courtland Sutton and Adam Trautman before Johnson corralled it for a 50-yard touchdown.

8/02/23 Johnson says he won't be rushed into deal to stop the Bears from leaving Chicago. Mayor Brandon Johnson said Wednesday he has not yet offered a specific Chicago site for building a new stadium for the Chicago Bears and won't be rushed into offering an alternative to Soldier Field. The Bears stalled stadium touchdown drive in Arlington Heights has cracked the door open for Johnson to keep the team in Chicago, but only if he's willing to spend the enormous political capital it would take to move the team to the front of a long line of political priorities that include the immigrant crisis and delivering on his campaign promise to make $1 billion worth of “investments in people.”
