The oddsmakers in Las Vegas and a wide variety of writers and NFL analysts also view the Atlanta Falcons as the most talented football team in the NFC South division. Despite coming off three consecutive NFC South titles, re-signing all of their most important players, and putting together a strong draft class that addressed a variety of the team's most pressing positional needs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still aren't considered the best team in the NFC South.

Last month, the 6-foot-3, 245-pound Trice went to the Falcons as an edge rusher in the third round of the NFL Draft, taken with the 74th overall pick. 5/17/24 Kyle Pitts' humbled take after Falcons picks up option. Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts had a monster rookie season back in 2021, but a knee injury during the 2022 season has slowed him down. Pitts hasn't been able to replicate the success that he found during his first year in the NFL, but he should be much healthier this season. The Falcons are hoping to have rookie season Pitts back for the 2024 season. The Falcons recently picked up Kyle Pitts' fifth year option, and that meant a lot to him.

5/16/24 Kirk Cousins is doing the Falcons a huge favor by handling the Michael Penix Jr. pick like a pro. While Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins might've been shocked by the Michael Penix Jr. pick during last month's 2024 NFL Draft, he's doing the team a huge solid right now by saying all the right things in the media about the whole ordeal. Outside of his amicable press conference this week, Cousins' appearance on The Dan Patrick Show this week is probably the best encapsulation of that yet, as he showed support for his teammate while putting the situation in perspective to previous stops in his career at Michigan State and with the Washington Commanders.

5/15/24 Atlanta Falcons sign veteran cornerback to complete 90-man roster. Fox Sports' Greg Auman reports the Atlanta Falcons signed veteran defensive back Anthony Johnson to fill the final spot on their 90-man roster. After spending time on the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints' practice squads last season, Johnson has a chance to add more depth to Atlanta's cornerback/safety rooms. Johnson is a tall cornerback (6'2", 205) whose length and footwork can help him stay in phase with receivers in the NFL, despite some speed and explosiveness limitations. With this signing, the Falcons have completed their 90-man roster, the undrafted free agent marks the sixth cornerback added to the roster this offseason.

When the Atlanta Falcons traded up to pick 35, after two straight receivers to start round two, the world was their oyster as to what avenue they could go on the defensive side of the ball. There were big names at cornerback like Iowa's Cooper DeJean, Alabama's Kool-Aid McKinstry and Georgia's Kamari Lassiter. How did a prospect that needed as much projection as Orhorhoro end up higher on the Falcons' board than a bona fide interior pass-rushing option like Newton?
