The host Miami Marlins, who had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, will try to get back on track Thursday afternoon in the decisive contest of a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota recorded a 2-1 victory on Wednesday, but the Marlins are still on an impressive roll. "We're playing a good brand of baseball," Miami rookie manager Clayton McCullough said. Leading the Marlins is left fielder Kyle Stowers, who is riding a nine-game hitting streak (.406, 13-for-32) during which he has five homers and 11 RBIs.

A prized prospect with Miami before he got injured, the 6-foot-8 Pérez returned from Tommy John surgery Monday night and made his first major league start since Sept. 20, 2023. “It was really great to see him back out there,” Miami manager Clayton McCullough said.

The Chicago White Sox have been working to secure their new manager for a while now, and it looks like they're zeroing in on a decision. According to Jesse Rogers at ESPN, the team is “getting closer” to finalizing their choice. Rogers also mentioned that two candidates have been ruled out of the race: Clayton McCullough, who serves as the Los Angeles Dodgers first base coach, and A.J. Ellis, a special assistant with the San Diego Padres. Major League Baseball insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post shared that Ellis stepped away from the White Sox managerial search on his own, citing family reasons.
