4/21/25 Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston introduce themselves on first day. While many of the players on offense are already familiar with each other, they are not with the most important position in the sport – at least, on a personal basis. Most have been watching Wilson and Winston on TV for years. "I'm super excited to work with him," said second-year tight end Theo Johnson, who was just about to turn 13 when Wilson won Super Bowl XLVIII. The Giants kicked off free agency with the signings of cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevón Holland, who forced three fumbles in a game against Wilson's Broncos in 2023.

What the Giants might do at tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft By Paul Schwartz Published April 11, 2025, 6:42 p.m. ET Miami tight end Elijah Arroyo catches a pass during the school's NFL football pro day. AP It was a shame that Theo Johnson went down to a season-ending foot injury on Thanksgiving, as he was just starting to show the down-the-field threat the coaching staff believes he can be. Johnson, a 2024 fourth-round pick, had 29 receptions for 331 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. There is not much else at the position, with Daniel Bellinger entering the final year on his contract, seemingly not a big part of the plan. Within that context, Dan Duggan of The Athletic believes the Giants will forgo adding a big-name tight end during the draft, relying on projected starter Theo Johnson to take a major step in his second season.
