The Carolina Panthers were one of the worst teams in football in 2024, finishing the season with a 5-12 record and in a tie for third place in the NFC South with the New Orleans Saints. While Carolina's offense was the focus for most, with 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young getting benched midseason and returning as the full-time starter five weeks later, it was actually their defense that deserved the most attention. Ejiro Evero's unit gave up the most yards (404.5) and most points (31.4) per game in the NFL last year, and it's hard for any team to overcome such a horrific performance on one side of the ball.
