The Las Vegas Raiders had the worst ground game in the NFL in 2024, rushing for an abysmal 79.8 yards per contest, and it just made things worse that they had to watch their former back, Josh Jacobs, rush for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first year with the Green Bay Packers. After replacing their general manager and head coach this offseason, Las Vegas, once again, made their rushing attack a priority, as they used their first-round pick (No. 6 overall) on running back Ashton Jeanty. Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs, who is serving more than three years in prison for a fatal 2021 DUI crash in Nevada, is training in case an NFL team calls him when he's released, according to a former teammate. Josh Jacobs, who played for the Raiders at the start of his career before signing with the Green Bay Packers, talked about Ruggs in a recent podcast interview. Jacobs departed as a franchise legend, but what he left in his wake was complete ineptitude in the backfield. General manager Tom Telesco also swung and missed on the free agent market, bringing in Alexander Mattison, who barely eclipsed 400 rushing yards in his lone season with the franchise. The Las Vegas Raiders had one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL just a few seasons ago, but last offseason, they made the foolish choice to let go of Josh Jacobs. Former general manager Tom Telesco relied on Zamir White, who showed promise in 2023, and Alexander Mattison, whom the team signed on a cheap deal before the season. But the Las Vegas Raiders' selection of former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs in 2019 at No. 24 overall was a good draft pick. Jacobs performed to expectations.
