Adam Vinatieri was an integral part of the beginning of the New England Patriots' dynasty when he kicked the game-winning field goal in the AFC Championship Game en route to a Super Bowl XXXVI victory. Despite all of the success he had in New England, he departed the organization for the Indianapolis Colts at the height of the rivalry between the two teams. Vinatieri wanted a long-term contract, and got that from the Colts after the Patriots didn't use the franchise tag on him. While the departure stung for Vinatieri — who was named a finalist for the Patriots Hall of Fame — he holds no ill-will against team owner Robert Kraft and has moved on from the situation.
