11/21/24 Ben Roethlisberger Recalls His Favorite (Non-Super Bowl) Throw. Ben Roethlisberger’s most iconic throw has no close challenger. His Super Bowl-winning touchdown to Santonio Holmes couldn’t be argued by the biggest contrarian. It will be the top of his highlight reel from now through the rest of time. But the throw that sits in a distant second place was still a beauty. Reflecting on […]

10/17/24 ‘I Wanted To Kick Their Ass:’ Santonio Holmes Wanted To ‘Score Every Play’ Against Steelers. Santonio Holmes will forever be remembered in Pittsburgh Steelers history for what he did in Super Bowl 43. It is unfortunate that Holmes couldn’t finish his career with the Steelers, though. In 2010, Holmes was traded to the New York Jets, not even two full years after his Super Bowl heroics. That season, he got […]

8/01/24 Troy Smith: For No. 1 Wide Receivers, Santonio Holmes ‘The Best I’ve Thrown To’. Long before Santonio Holmes was the hero of Super Bowl XLIII with his toe-tapping touchdown to take the lead over the Arizona Cardinals, he was a nightmare at the high school and college ranks. Ohio State recruited him out of Belle Glade, Fla., in 2002. He redshirted that season when the Buckeyes went 14-0 and […]

Super Bowl XLIII is one of the greatest of all time in part due to how many iconic plays happened. 7/12/23 ’He’s great’: Santonio Holmes extra involved with Steelers in retirement. During his time with the Steelers, Santonio Holmes helped lead the team to a Super Bowl and catch the game winning touchdown to knock off the Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. 1/14/23 ‘Had In The Back Of My Mind That I Blew The Game:’ Holmes Recalls Drop Before Super Bowl Winning Catch. Santonio Holmes will forever live in Pittsburgh Steelers lore. His toe tap grab in the back of the end zone to score the game winning touchdown in Super Bowl 43 is one of the most iconic plays in NFL history. But, not everyone knows that Holmes had a chance to make a much easier catch […]

10/01/22 Santonio Homes On Super Bowl Winning Catch: ‘Knew That Ball Was Coming To Me’. Schematically, Santonio Holmes was the third read. In his mind, he was the primary receiver. Holmes’ Super Bowl catch to beat the Arizona Cardinals is one of football’s most iconic plays and during an Alumni weekend the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted last night, Holmes discussed what was going through his head before and during that play. […]

7/25/22 Mueller: Roethlisberger's comments display lack of accountability, self-awareness. His gripes ranged from semi-valid – his Super Bowl XLIII-winning pass to Santonio Holmes doesn’t get enough credit compared to Holmes’ catch (true, but only outside of Pittsburgh) – to tone-deaf and devoid of self-awareness, particularly when he bemoaned the Steelers’ transition from a team-oriented group into a me-first outfit. Were Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and others “me-first” at times? Sure.

2/19/22 Celebrating Santonio Holmes' MVP performance in Super Bowl XL. Steelers vs. Cardinals, 3rd quarter, 6:47 Santonio Holmes is the receiver to the bottom of the screen. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is still playing off of Holmes, the Cardinals are still focused on taking away his deep threat, and they were doing a better job reacting to the Steelers screens, so this time Holmes got the ball with no blockers on 2nd and 11 and had to beat Rodgers-Cromartie to convert the first down.

10/13/21 Arizona Cardinals Are Still Upset About Super Bowl XLIII. Yes, Santonio Holmes caught the football. The Pittsburgh Steelers know it, the NFL knows it, and the Arizona Cardinals know it - even if they don't want to admit it. Super Bowl XLIII was one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking games in Steelers history.

5/22/21 Bucs’ Arians Compares Darden To Current NFL WR.

When it comes to drafting wide receivers, Bruce Arians has a type. Speed. During Arians' days in Pittsburgh as an offensive coordinator for the Steelers, the Bucs head coach played a hand in selecting some of the fastest players we've seen in football. Santonio Holmes, Emmanuel Sanders, Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown were all impressive [...]

2/02/21 Steelers Super Bowl Flashback: Super Bowl XLIII vs. Arizona. On the very first play of their second series, Santonio Holmes got into the action taking a short pass from Ben for 25 yards down the left sideline. Ben went for it all on the next play and had Nate Washington all alone in the end zone, but Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie recovered in just enough time to knock the pass away. But the Steelers got back to it on third and ten after Ben scrambling and spinning all over the field before finding Heath Miller for 11 yards to move the chains.

10/29/20 Don't let their age fool you, the Steelers' young wide receivers are ready for the challenge. The 2009 offense featured an offense which didn’t do anything particularly well, but was able to make plays to Santonio Holmes, and Ward, en route to a Super Bowl 43 victory. Since the Super Bowl trips, the Steelers’ Killer Bs certainly would be considered the most lethal offensive attack in recent memory. Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell, Roethlisberger and Martavis Bryant were as good as it gets, but the one difference between that unit and the current one is the depth.

9/12/20 Chance to add to Super Bowl collection inspires Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger in return from injury. The youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl is now 38 and chasing an elusive third ring. It has been 11 seasons since Ben Roethlisberger’s pinpoint touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes with 35 seconds remaining provided the Pittsburgh Steelers with their sixth Lombardi Trophy and the quarterback’s second title in a four-year span. Roethlisberger acknowledges he is in the twilight of a career that one day figures to place him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

5/15/20 What if the Giants didn't trade for Eli Manning?. With Ware ascending on the roster and having an immediate impact for New York, I think the Giants would have prioritized a speed receiver, which would have led to them selecting Ohio State WR Santonio Holmes at 25. The Giants originally traded this pick to the Steelers. But in this alternate universe, the Giants would value his speed, and, ironically, Holmes would end up in New York with Roethlisberger.
