3/12 Joe Blanton (P-PHI) Joe Blanton looked good in his second spring outing Thursday. Blanton limited the Tigers to 3 hits over 4 innings for the win. Blanton has been working on fastballs and changeups so far this spring and the results have been good.

3/12 Raul Ibanez (OF-PHI) Raul Ibanez has been struggling this spring but had a nice game Thursday. Ibanez went 1-4 but had his first HR and RBI on the spring. Ibanez is batting only .150 but should be ready to go when the regular season starts.

3/12 Chase Utley (2B-PHI) Chase Utley remains hot early on this spring. Utley went 2-3 Thursday with an rbi, his first of the spring. Utley is batting .545 so far this spring.

3/12 Shane Victorino (OF-PHI) Shane Victorino batted leadoff and continues to get ready for the regular season. Victorino went 2-3 with a couple of singles and is batting .300 on the spring.

3/12 Ronald Belisario (P-LAD) The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking into contingency plans for their opening-day bullpen while Ronald Belisario tries to report to camp. Belisario has been unable to secure a visa for the 2010 season and remains in his native Venezuela. The right-hander went 4-3 with a 2.04 ERA in 69 games as a rookie last year, helping Los Angeles win the NL West. Belisario had the same issue last year and missed two weeks of camp before being a surprise late addition to the major league roster. The Dodgers are not frustrated enough to consider releasing the hard-throwing reliever, but anger is clearly growing.

3/12 Brian Giles (OF-FA) Brian Giles' right knee didn't feel right, so the veteran outfielder did what felt right. Giles, 39, announced his retirement Thursday morning, a month after having signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers in hopes of resuscitating an All-Star career. He leaves behind a trail of honors ( two All-Star selections), accomplishments, a reputation as a hard-nosed retro player and a legion of admirers among former teammates.

3/11 Dioner Navarro (C-TB) Navarro was struck by a pickoff throw during the Rays’ 16-15 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday and departed with an injured left thumb.

3/11 Joel Hanrahan (P-PIT) Hanrahan has thrown off flat ground and is expected to pitch March 15

3/11 Octavio Dotel (P-PIT) Dotel has an oblique strain, he is expected to be ready at the start of the season

3/11 Bobby Jenks (P-CHW) Jenks has been bothered by slight right calf soreness, and the White Sox opted to have him throw two simulated innings on Tuesday so as not to exacerbate the injury.
